Mods issue : Can't install anything, nothing appears
-
after trying for 4 hours now and watching multiple tutorials, it seems pointless. i did everything in the openiv, installed all tools, gone to the edit mode, made those Mods folder copies. and then i tried to replace files. either individually and there after just dropping it in, but whenever i try to run the game my ped just doesn't seem to change. anyone has any ideas why it happens? do i have to downgrade my game somehow? i have the latest version? honestly no idea what the issue is
note that the addonpeds doesn't work either, i did everything with the xml file and added the last line, and nothing works at all.
even when i try to change the ped in mods folder. the original one, it doesn't work at all. no idea why nothing is changing but the script hooks do work

@BrayanSummers There is no need to create this thread again. If you want it in a new section, ask the moderators ( @Akila_Reigns or @FoxtrotDelta). You can report it too with the message please move it or so.
-
@Kwebbl i am not sure which section is the right one. cause i am having an installation issue, although it is mod related
-
@BrayanSummers Yeah, it will just get moved after time if a mod sees it.
But to your problem, sounds weird. But I never used really custom models so I don't really have a clue about player models.
-
@Kwebbl the thing is, i can't really install any mods, in OpenIV it seems to be replaced an all, checked the textures and everything is right on its place, however nothing changes in-game. weapons, skins... it's like it just doesn't read what i change at all. no idea why though
-
@BrayanSummers Can you take a screenshot of your GTA directory?
-
@Kwebbl i will as soon as i am finished reinstalling. i will provide you the screenshot
-
@BrayanSummers Reinstalling mostly doesn't fix it. But maybe it's worth a try.
-
So you're using the Mods folder method, okay > is the OpenIV. asi placed in the game's base folder?
And is the asi loaded by scripthook?
-
@ReNNie well i didn't install OpenIV in the game directory i just installed it in C, and i have the game on D, so i assume it does make a difference?
-
@BrayanSummers I have OpenIV in D and GTA in C, and it works perfectly. He asked whether you have installed the openiv.asi or not.
-
@Akila_Reigns i assume no, honestly is there even and asi. in it? when i downloaded it there was none?
-
@BrayanSummers Go to tools/ASI manager and install OpenIV.asi.
Make sure you have installed Script Hook V as well.
-
@Akila_Reigns i do have scripthook for sure, i can use the asi loader to swap skins in-game. however, i have absolutely no idea why the rest doesn't work
-
@BrayanSummers You must install OpenIV.asi, otherwise your mods folder won't work.
I think if you post a screenshot of your GTA V main folder, it will be helpful.
And I guess you meant a trainer, dinput8.dll (ASI loader) cannot change skins.
-
@Akila_Reigns i am still new to this so i am a little confused. and this game is one of the most complicated ones YET. and have made mods and installed mods on several games, and this by far is one that gives me the headache. i will post you the screenshot as soon as i have reinstalled my game which is almost done, i will then post the screenshot what i have done.
-
@BrayanSummers I have written a tutorial about basics of modding, feel free to check it out.
https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/1451/tutorial-grand-theft-auto-v-modding-a-few-things-you-should-know
-
@Akila_Reigns i am bout to test it right now, gonna send it asap, i mean the screenshot. unless it works
-
@Akila_Reigns so there it is i have absolutely no idea why my ped mod doesn't work i tried to change the skin, but it just doesn't appear
-
@Akila_Reigns been trying since a while now and nothing, no idea why it doesn't work
-
@BrayanSummers Everything seems OK in the screenshot.
-
@Akila_Reigns i found out i was installing it in the wrong directory. i had to install everything in update i wonder hwy though
