[SCRIPT] [RELEASE] [WIP] - Grand Theft Space



  • @sollaholla You're work seems absolutely amazing. I sincerely hope nothing but the best for you and your team with this project. It looks amazing looking at different screenshots through out this thread and being able too see snippets of progress that you're making ( might i say amazing progress).

    I can't wait to try this at a point and i know i say it for everyone when i say Great work, keep it up and thanks for all your time and effort thus far into this project.

    That is the​ surface of the moon I assume?

    If so, I think that Earth should be a bit smaller, also perhaps darken the blue of Earth's water if possible.

    @sollaholla Please don't take it the wrong way, you and the team are just blowing us all away, I am just a big sci-fi fan and those two things came to mind quickly when seeing the last screenshot that you posted so I figured I would share, but if it is your style or if it is out of reach within the constraints of the mod or if you just want to ignore me it is all good :)

    I like everyone else here am just super grateful that you and the team are doing such amazing work for the community!

I'm also a big sci-fi fan and a machinima maker on youtube (www.youtube.com/user/88Jackob88) I'm currently working on a big project that would require some pieces of this amazing pack of custom models.

    I am quite impressed with your progress. I thought of a couple of ideas that could help improve your mod.
    -When flying in space, make the flight slow. In the Stargate mod for GTA SA, they did things similar to the way you are doing them. Except, in space, they had smaller and slower versions of the ships. (I believe they used RC Planes for the smaller ships.) Doing this will make the environment feel much more vast, and traveling to the moon will take a few minutes.
    -VisualV has been experimenting with adding cloud types. It may be possible to make a star field that follows the player by making the star field an added "cloud type". Since you can change the models, for the clouds, making a sphere that the player sits in should be possible. If this doesn't work out, is there a way you could get the star field to follow the player so it feels like it is vast space, and not a sphere?
    -Make the height where you transfer into space when leaving Earth customizable. I use VisualV's atmosphere script in combo with Sonic Boom to simulate aircraft that can reach the stratosphere. In GTA V, planes normally can reach an altitude of 2500 units high. I set up the atmosphere script to start the stratosphere at 5500 units high, and end it at 8500 high. I would love to take advantage of these configurations when it comes to this mod. It would be sweet if the height where we leave the Earth would be customizable. Also, it would be sweet if the height that we appear at on re entry were customizable independently as well.
    -Also regarding VisualV, you guys should take advantage of their atmosphere timecyc. It will allow you to get much better lighting in your maps, with shadows too, rather than just setting the time of day to night.

  • @Hnagy78 I think this mod is trying to make "Interstellar" realistic things...For as I know, it's impossible to travel on sun, even in ULTRA sf movies

  • @nkjellman I honestly don't know anything about this stuff, but it shouldn't stop someone from doing this when the mod's released. I'm honestly just a programmer, and I don't really mess with editing things and 3d modeling/lighting. I'm not even sure if I want to include visualv in the mod even though I've gotten permission.

    @sollaholla With the atmosphere simulation add on installed that came with VisualV, you switch the weather to Halloween. That gives a space look. Even in the day. So you will have the sun, and the light coming from the sun. You will get shadows, but you will still have the dark sky. In addition, you won't have that light pollution orange glow that a lot of props tend to have at night.

    Anyways, I look forward to playing the mod. I should look into how Rockstar adds clothing components to the Online character models. That way you guys will be able to add a space suit outfit for Michael, Trevor, Franklin, MP Freemode Male, and MP Freemode Female, without replacing anything.

  • @nkjellman The clue to add external components to peds is in the Alien ped, especially in his hands and bones to change in external eskeletons and attach no native body skeleton components. I think, exists a flag in ymt files to make possible the add-on components located in some weird directories with other skeletons and meshes data.



  • @sollaholla Hey man on the game pic, i see a big MipMap problem, increase them



  • @MrGTAmodsgerman If you meant he tiling issue, yeah there's not much i can do about it. There's no support for texture painting in GIMS EVO right now :( Even increasing the size just makes the textures look low resolution and the tiling is still visible.

    This happened by accident,ended up spawning down the map,fits perfectly as Miller's planet(water planet from Interstellar)
