[MAP]Space Shuttle launch pad
-
Hi everyone, I am looking for someone to help me out here. I am currently working on a Space Shuttle mod which will have a take-off sequence scripted by @sollaholla . To make it look more realistic however, I'd like to ask an experience map creator (with menyoo or map editor) to create something like a launch pad for the shuttle like this:
Of course I am not expecting this to be a replica of the real deal, just something which kinda looks like it and gives the feeling of standing on a launch pad. If someone's willing to do it or knows someone who might want to do it, please tag that person and or reply

How about getting a 3d model of a launchpad and adding it in as a prop?
-
@Oskar yea I thought about that, but they're kinda expensive
-
@SkylineGTRFreak Is there maybe a FSX one?
-
@Oskar Sadly only default scenery, which is... ugly.
Edit:
Hmmm, just found this for only 60$. Includes quite a lot for the price:

STill too much for me atm

@SkylineGTRFreak Once again, I'd buy it, but there are still too many unfinished projects. So... if you can wait till February when you can get more time and some of those projects finished, I'd pay for it.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 That's great news, as that would probably be the time where I need it anyways. Plus, maybe by then proper map mods can be done and this placed somewhere north of the map or so.
-
If someone could buy this.. It's a model of the 39B.

@V4D3R seems too high poly... would definitely need LOD's.
-
@V4D3R look at the model of 39A I have posted above. "ONly" costs 60$, has fewer polies and looks pretty good as well
-
@SkylineGTRFreak I was just saying that, no need to buy that model.
-
@V4D3R yea I know, just thought you might've overlooked the link
-
@SkylineGTRFreak
I think the poly count shouldn't be a problem as you want to add it as a prop (or a real map model once OpenIV released the tools for that) and not as a vehicle
-
@Oskar That is true, but if you compare the two models, you can see that they're both not far off from each other. And lower polycount is always a good thing.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak That second model is almost 4 million polygons, the one you linked to is 400 thousand. I'd definitely take 400K.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak I didn't want to tell you to get the more expensive one :P
Just wanted to say that the poly count isn't too important in this case no matter which model you'll get.
Anyways really looking forward to it, and good look with making the collision mesh, I have the feeling that this will take forever
-
@Oskar like the Nathan James?
-
did you ever end up working on this mod?
-
@SkylineGTRFreak I've an idea but I can't guarantee you it will look really like a launch pad, however there will be a similar metal structure with pole and etc ( i'll try to mix some gta object with zmodeler but can't promise it will worth it ;P)
-
@albertGTA I am working on a rudimentary 3D model of the pad, but it didn't come with any mapping or textures, so I have to improve it and figure out the best way how to get it ingame.
@Shaezbreizh well, as long as it'd look somewhat like it, it would already be great help
-
@SkylineGTRFreak do you still want me to buy the launch pad?
-
@nathanjamesddg151 it would greatly help and I could stop working on the model I currently have. But if you'd do that, send me a heads up first so I can look around for someone who can do proper map mods. I have experimented a little with it, but... meh, results not really satisfying.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak okay. i'll let you know when I buy it. It may be a week or two until my new card arrives.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak maybe i can give you a few hours. i can build stuff in cinema 4d or maya. not sure what format export you would want?
