Error message after installing vehicle mod

  • I get an error message saying the game files are corrupt, reboot and verify game details or reinstall the game.

It's getting annoying as I'm following the instructions in the read me files in the mod.

Any step by step guide would help that is full English as well would help.

    @SeANKaN3
Are you using OpenIV.asi and the mods folder method (and installing the mods into that mods folder)?

  • @SeANKaN3 It sounds like you are modifying the original game files. My advice would be to set up a mods folder using the info in here https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/1451/tutorial-grand-theft-auto-v-modding-a-few-things-you-should-know

And when a readme tells you to change a file, change the matching file in the mods folder instead.

So if a readme says put your dlclist.xml in update\update.rpf\common\data you put it in mods\update\update.rpf\common\data instead. That way all your orignal files remain undamaged and the game won't give you that verifying files error.

  • @ReNNie Oops, sorry, didn't see your post, it was posted while I was typing.

@LeeC2202 no worries, at least we're barking up the same isue-tree

  • Just so we are on the same wave length here, I create the mods folder in the normal documents or OpenIV?
Then if it's OpenIV how exactly do I copy the 'update' part?

  • @SeANKaN3 You create the mods folder in the main game folder. Inside that you create an update folder... and inside the update folder, you copy update.rpf from Grand Theft Auto V\update\update.rpf

So you end up with Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf

Also inside that mods\update folder, you create x64\dlcpacks and that's where your addon cars will go.

Here's an image of my folder... I posted this in another thread. This should give you an idea of what you should see when it is set up correctly. It's the top section you want to take more notice of, that shows mods > update > x64 > dlcpacks and you can also see the update.rpf file in there as well.

  • So alongside update.rpf I create the x64/dlcpacks folders or copy them from the main folder?

  • @SeANKaN3 You can just create them. The ones in the main folder already have things in them, which you don't need in the mods folders, unless you are installing mods that use the original files. But just for now, create the empty folders.

If you see something in a readme, that says "Install this into update\x64\dlcpacks" you will now add that to mods\update\x64\dlcpacks instead.

There is another file involved in all of this but we need to get the mods folder set up properly before we need to worry about that. Once you have that done, we can do a simple addon to show how the other file is used if you like.

I am going to be offline for an hour or so now, so if you post and get no reply, that's why.

  • Okay no problem. My OpenIV looks exactly like yours apart from it has nothing in the mods dlcpacks folder.

I have downloaded the latest version of Scripthook, Scripthook.NET and simple trainer. Is there anything else I need to download apart from the mod itself?

  • MODERATOR

    @SeANKaN3
nope, now just add the desired add-on dlc inside its own folder (in the mods\update.rpf\x64\dlcpacks folder), edit the dlclist.xml inside mods\update.rpf (just add a line at the bottom referring to it) and hope for the best!

  • Well I have no luck whatsoever as it states invalid model... Any ideas?

  • @Akila_Reigns Okay I've downloaded it, but the read me just has the destination for it but no instructions for which folder in the download and where to put it?

  • @SeANKaN3 Use the 1× traffic and peds version. Put the gameconfig.xml in mods\update\update.rpf\common\data

  • @Akila_Reigns Replace the file that is already there?

  • @SeANKaN3 Yes, replace the vanilla gameconfig.xml.

  • Yeah I think I'll just give up as it just isn't working for me whatsoever. Thanks for all the help, but it just doesn't want to work. Tried another vehicle mod and it still states invalid model :(

  • @SeANKaN3 Please show us the bottom of your dlclist.xml, I have an idea what might be wrong. I think you might have taken what @ReNNie said literally and added the line to the bottom of the file... but I could be wrong.

  • @LeeC2202 This is what it looks like. Trying to install Aventador

  • @SeANKaN3 That looks fine, sorry, I just wanted to be sure. Actually, that name Aventador, is that what the line in the readme with the mod said to add?

So let's just cover what you've now got...

    1. You have the mods folder set up with all the right folders, mods\update\x64\dlcpacks.
    2. In the dlcpacks folder, you have a folder called aventador (or something similar) that has a file called dlc.rpf inside that?
    3. You have used the gameconfig.xml file @Akila_Reigns suggested and that is in mods\update\update.rpf\common\data
    4. You have that edited dlclist.xml in the same place as the gameconfig.xml file.

Is that a correct assessment of what you now have? I know modding can be a pain but once you've done one, the rest will seem much easier, so hang in there, we will get things working.

  • @LeeC2202 No problem. It's always good to check that it isn't something simple like that :) Yeah the read me file sai to add it like that in dlclist.xml and the extratitleupdatedate.meta.

    1. Yeah exact copies of the original with dlcpacks being empty.
    2. Aventador folder then in that is the dlc.rpf file.
    3. In the mod download there is a gameconfig.xml file that the creator states to replace in mods/update/update.rpf/common/data.
    4. Yeah added/edited both in the same line of folders, mods/update/update.rpf/common/data.
