Mods won't work

  • So i've finally decided - due to alot of boredom - to mod my GTA

So I did download ScriptHookV, ScriptHookDotNet, OpenIV (Also installed the ASI loader and the OpenIV.asi from OpenIV), updated my DirectX / Microsoft C++ and followed the steps from a YouTube tutorial on how to mod GTA V

I moved the files into the Mod-folder which i wanted to edit... after I was finished with about 3-4 cars... I started GTA V and looked for the mods... sadly the cars did remain the same... not even the Native Trainer wanted to start or anything....

I dont know what I did wrong... did I miss something?

PS: Also im really confused that there are so many vehicle files... in the update folder aswell as in the rpf files in the GTA V mainfolder itself
Im used to GTA IV modding... this had only one vehicles.img file you had to edit... and one handling/carcols/vehicles.dat file for everything.... now this stuff is spread all over the place...

  • @EisWolFi What do the logfiles in your game folder say? Are there any errors in them? Look in particular at ScriptHookV.log, asiloader.log and openiv.log.

  • ScriptHookV:

  • Yes its all what's inside there...

I dont know what's wrong tho... because all you do for installing is moving them into the folder and nothing else... I mean its impossible that i've done something wrong when installing xDalt text

  • @EisWolFi Could you try this trainer, just to check if it is the trainer that is causing the problem please? https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/simple-trainer-for-gtav

  • @LeeC2202 Doesen't work either... I press F3 ... nothing happens

  • @EisWolFi Did you remove the other trainer first? Sorry, I probably should have said that earlier... not thinking straight today. :(

It's just that if the other trainer is causing the problem, it could affect other asi mods as well.

  • @LeeC2202 Yes I did remove the old trainer before inserting the new one... im not new to modding and scripting xD

Had 0 problems when I was modding/scripting on GTA IV ... now... its all messed up I guess...

  • @EisWolFi Sorry, I have to ask the obvious questions just to make sure I don't miss anything. Diagnosing over a distance is tricky when you can't see what you're working with...

Have you tried with the mods folder either removed or renamed?

I see you have ScriptHookVDotNet installed but no mention of any related script mods, if you have any, have you tried with your scripts folder renamed or removed?

  • @LeeC2202 Imma remove the modsfolder then try again... and no I just installed DotNet because a tutorial told me to xD

    I dont have a script-mods folder...

EDIT: Nope... removing the modsfolder didnt do anything

EDIT2: I haven't updated my Windows since 4 months... could that be the problem xD?

EDIT3: updating windows didnt change anything either

  • Cars remained the same? Well, something about that says you just tossed some car mods into your mods folder and called it good.

It's more complex than that. They need to be in a copy of the x64e file (some mods, anyway), usually they'll mention where they have to be placed.

So click into x64e, you'll be prompted with a message about the mods folder and how the file system you're browsing through is not copied to the mods folder.

Click copy to mods. You'll still have your old x64e.rpf file, but use that to extract (or export, maybe) any car models that you want to return to normal state from there.

Right click a model, select export/extract, I'm certain it's one of those two. Set it somewhere you can find it. After that check to see what came out, make sure 2 .yft's and a .ytd come out with textures and the same exact file sizes. If they come out with 0 bytes it's no good.

  • @EisWolFi The fact that you still can't get a trainer working is a bit of a concern.

Can you try removing the ScriptHookVDotNet.asi and OpenIV.asi, so that will just leave ScriptHookV to load the asi loader (dinput8.dll) and the simple trainer files (TrainerV.asi and trainerv.ini)).

If we can't even get those working, then there is clearly a more significant issue at the heart of all this.

  • @krashadam Well that's what i did... i already checked out enough YouTube tutorials to make sure i did everything right...

Always looking in the readme to know where the file is... then replacing it.... i even checked the filesize... its the same as the mod

i still think the game doesent care about the mod folder... since Scripts dont work (trainer...) i dont think openIV's mod-folder feature does work then

edit: @LeeC2202 didnt work... the game is just normal... no ScriptHook message... pressing F3/F4 doesent do anything... its like the game ignores everything what's new in the folder xD

  • Nevermind... got it to work... well at least the trainer...

The game didn't like that I did a copy of it xD

  • @EisWolFi said in Mods won't work:

Nevermind... got it to work... well at least the trainer...

Ah, now had you mentioned that bit, it might have taken things in a slightly different different direction. That is a problem I have seen before where people have had two copies, modded one and the shortcut was running the other version.

At least you got it working though and that's all that matters.

    What other steps?
