@toqchista don't do what the previous poster said if you do not want to edit the 3D model itself but only the textures:
OpenIV, stand on the *.ydr file, extract to OpenFormats. You get an *.odr file and loose textures, edit those PNG or DDS textures (you setup in the options for OpenIV to which format to extract) in GIMP or Photoshop. Then import the edited textures into OpenIV using the created *.odr file.

If you do want to edit the 3D model, then yes, that's a whole other ballgame
