Saints Row IV Simulation Override Settings as timecycles (Like a tool to create timecycles)
-
Saints Row IV has really pretty sky settings, which I wouldn't mind seeing in GTA 5.
Watch this video to get an idea of what they look like. Thanks to whoever can make these.
EDIT: I would assume most timecycles like Vengeance would have to be set at night, or like Free, where it it's day.
EDIT2: LeeC2202 has said he may make a script that will let you modify timecycles. Let's wait and see what awesomeness forms.
EDIT3: It's a timecycle toggle script. Helps for when you need to test new timecycles. Though I need a tool that lets me recreate these in a simple fashion within the game, with save/load features. (optional, but I still want the simple fashion of a menu to use in the game.), unless someone knows how to recreate these.
-
GTA 5 really could use this...
-
@krashadam They look like what you can achieve with the Timecycle modifiers, which I use in my Vehicle photo mod. Have a look at 1:52 in the first video in this post. https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/6023/script-wip-auto-play-vehicle-spawn-and-camera-preset-tool/62
They are the same effects as you can use in the Rockstar Editor, you simply switch them on and set how strong you want the effect to be.
-
@LeeC2202 I mean for general play.
-
@krashadam You can switch them on at any time... with a small mod at least.
-
@LeeC2202 I can't find the timecycles modifier mod thing.
...unless it isn't even a mod.
-
@krashadam No, there isn't one (yet) but all you need is a small mod and you can turn on any of the timecycle effects, at any time, at any strength.
If you want one, I can make one.
-
@LeeC2202 Menyoo wouldn't do this right? Because from typing in "timecycles" into the search bar, I haven't found anything for timecycles (4-5 results, that's it.) I guess maybe making one would help, seeing as how there is no timecycle modifier anyway. Sounds good. Thanks for helping!
-
@krashadam Sorry for the late reply, my ISP's DNS servers are clearly screwed tonight. Constantly losing internet access all over the show.
Not sure what Menyoo is capable of to be honest, I've never used it. If I don't get this finished tonight, I'll definitely do it tomorrow... it's close to 3am here now, so it depends on how tired I get.
However, don't be surprised if someone else doesn't appear with one before then, I have a knack of picking up things that other people are doing as well and being a slow coder, I tend to come in last.

@krashadam Try this, default key is F8 but you can change that in the ini file.
It needs NativeUI to run as it's menu based.

-
@LeeC2202 No problem.
I'm certain I've got NativeUI installed. I'll download it tomorrow and I'll test it.
-
@krashadam If you have already downloaded it, you'll need to get it again... I forgot something in the key checking and it was ignoring the ini file setting... sorry.
In my feeble defence, it's far too late.
Edit: Decided to upload it to the main site, will be available here when it's been approved. https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/screen-effects
-
@LeeC2202 Hey, don't know if I contacted at a bad time, but I realized when I was scanning through the pictures there on that screen effects mod of yours, it only activates/deactivates timecycles.
Is there like a tool that will let me recreate the simulation override settings?
-
@krashadam All my script does, is activate or deactivate a set of modifiers already in the game. If you want to do more than that, then you'd need to edit the timecycle xml files by hand, there's no tool to make those.
Sorry, I probably misunderstood your original request post... I misunderstand things a lot, sorry.
-
@LeeC2202 Ah, it's fine. I'll see how timecycles work and I'll try and pick off all the colors from everyone. It's possible I need HQ screenshots to be able to pick the color numbers. Do timecycles work in decimals, or like, a color hash like #5GFF43 or something?
-
@krashadam They work in values of 0.0 to 1.0.
-
@LeeC2202 Oh that's going to be a headache. Is there any way I can get a color to work like that?
-
@krashadam You just take a normal RGB component and divide it by 255 and that will give you that colour in a 0.0 to 1.0 format.
-
@LeeC2202 Would it work even if I picked a set of colors from a screenshot?
-
@krashadam Yeah, you'd just have to convert them manually to the values it wanted. It still works with all the same colours, it just represents them in a slightly different way.
It makes sense from a programmer's perspective, just damned annoying from the artist's side of things.
-
@LeeC2202 Look on the bright side, at least you know my struggle.
JK JK, thanks a bunch.
-
@LeeC2202 I got a bit of an itch here. I'm in a timecycle looking for some sky color, shadow color/darkness, and sun color settings, but I can't narrow down which ones they are. (This is new to me, honestly.) (If you need to know what I'm trying to recreate, let me know.)
-
@krashadam The only thing I know about them are the colour formats I'm afraid.
I once had an idea about changing them, then I opened one of the files, saw what was in there and that idea went away. I wouldn't even begin to know where to start, with what those values do... everything would be a guess.
-
@LeeC2202 Are there any timecycle experts here?
-
@krashadam Your best bet is probably someone who releases one of the graphics mods. If anyone is going to know anything, it would be them.
