Can you modify embedded textures in a ydr? and how?
-
Right click , export to open formats
Edit the textures
Right click on a blank space , import openformats
-
Yes but only if the ydr is not locked by the modder.
Using GIMS Evo, you just need to import the model, change the texture, mark as embed and then export again the object with your desired texture embedded.

@HeySlickThatsMe I got it with the texture toolkit.

@Rarefacer Thank you!

and/or use Texture Toolkit. I actually use both.
So mostly extract to OpenFormats but sometimes edit a DDS quick in Photoshop and import in the ydr using Texture Toolkit
-
@ReNNie I mainly use OpenIV to extract and replace textures. I create the textures with Photoshop. When I try to convert to an openformat OpenIV crashes.....

you can also edit the embedded textures in Zmodeler3. go to textures browser and on the left under "All extures" you should see "filename.ydr" and for example "vehshare.ytd". this is how it is determined whether a texture is embedded or drawn from a different file. if you want to embed a new texture (or any textures) in the .ydr just add it to the group with the name of the .ydr file. if the file originally hasn't had any embedded textures create the group. what i couldn't find out yet is how to get the alpha channel (transparency) working in a .ydr or how to save it so you can re-open it in zmodeler3 again later (as of now it will work in game, show in openIV but if you re-open it in zmodeler3 you won't see anything. but i did figure out the part about the embedded textures and that works. hope this helps anyone...

@BROKE_option Yeah, but unless there's a sale or something going on right now, Zmodeler isn't free while the TextureToolkit is.

@BROKE_option I know you posted this 2 years ago but thank you! I've been searching for how to embed textures but couldn't seem to find anything, then I stumbled upon your comment here and now I know how!
