Need help on download issue

Every time I download a file when I go to open it there is an internet explorer icon and nothing opens. Anyone know the reason for this and how to fix it so I can get an actual file to download so I can install.

@Buckwheat013 as said above you need Winrar wich is a tool that permit to pack/unpack thing.
