Backup Mods folder?
-
Is there any way to backup the mods folder? I'm not sure how but I just lost a good 80% of my mods over 50 cars, so is there any way to back it up or to recover lost files when something like this happens? I really don't want to reinstall everything right now....

@westcoastsosa usually DLClist updates . all the mods are there, but game forgot their path. just update your DLClist. edit them again.

@FoxtrotDelta gonna give this a try. I was about to reinstall my game, glad I checked here first

@FoxtrotDelta unfortunately that didn't work. The files are still in my mods folder but most of them have been changed back to the original car. it seems that im missing actual game files, which I never even edited. I cant use director mode either I get stuck at a black loading screen,

That seems unlikely. STEAM/Rockstar won't touch your mods folder. Make sure you re-upload your dlclist.xml to mods/update/update.rpf/common/data first.

@meimeiriver I did, multiple times. I think it has to do with the fact I installed an addon car (or at least tried) but it was a weird instruction. Told me to install the dlc.rpf to common/data folder, which I did and when it didn't work I removed it. I think that corrupted my data:/ I already took the route of reinstalling everything. sigh

@westcoastsosa Sorry to hear it. But yeah, I make regular backups of my mods folder. Bit late for that now, in your case, but things really do mess up from time to time, and then a restore is pretty much all you got left.

Always a good idea to copy paste mods folder to desktop and external hard drive
