openiv issue
-
this isn't the first time I install openIV but due to issues I had to format the laptop , according to dxdiag I have directx 12
and now each time I try to install openIV they tell me directx needs updating which I allow it. it downloads what it needs and disappears directly (most likely not installed) after openiv finished I started getting d3dx9_33.dll missing so I downloaded it and placed it in its place. now I get a error that it wasn't able to start properly (0xc000007b)...someone help

Did you download it from one of those dll sites or by DirectX update?
-
one of those dll websites...im trying to find an offline dxsetup but no luck till now
-
@V4D3R I found a 500mb file DXSDK_Jun10 not sure in I download it
-
@speedfreak975 Never download dlls from other websites. Use this, it'll find missing files.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35Windows update take care of things usually.

Not to sound too alarmist, but those are almost guaranteed virus sites! Never ever download any drivers from any third-party sites. Like I mean, ever.
Your Windows 10 will never need an external DirectX update. A times, STEAM, for instance, will install run-time libraries for older versions, but that's it. And the rest will be done automagically by Windows Update itself.
I'd start by running some very hefty anti-virus programs first.
-
This is what you should get if you are using WIn 10.

@V4D3R @meimeiriver I got this "while running what V4d3r advised me to do ( a cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. please verify the cryptographic services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid

I have no idea what that means, read these. They might help you.

@V4D3R apparently many files are corrupt yes I used to get that before formatting my laptop does ms have an official download link ?
-
@speedfreak975 Official download link for what?
-
@V4D3R so I can redownload directx I know it comes with the win10 system but mine is corrupt
or missing I ran a text in command prompt and half the files were not found
-
@speedfreak975 I don't know if there's any way to reinstall DirectX. It would be better if you ask about it in the Microsoft support site.
I haven't faced this issue, I'm sorry. I would reinstall windows, but there's no need to be that desperate. If someone else know a fix for this problem, please post it.
-
@V4D3R I'm going to speak with MS support , thanks on the help there is no way I will reinstall windows , I have to much college projects so a game can wait
-
@speedfreak975 You know you can reinstall windows without affecting your personal files, right? But anyway, like I said, it's better to ask from them.

@V4D3R yes I know but times more about time consumption and the need to reinstall everything
-
That link will install all the pre-directx10 runtimes that don't come with Windows 10, that some programmes still need.
-
@LeeC2202 Thanks for coming here. I was hoping for that.
-
@speedfreak975 If you haven't done so already, open a command prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow which will check system file integrity... do that before reinstalling that directx runtime.
-
@LeeC2202 thanks on the help I'm trying what you adviced me to do. hope it helps and downloading the files u provided via links
-
@LeeC2202 it found no integrity violations now I run what u provided so that's good news atleast
-
@LeeC2202 this might seem as a dumb question but where do I extract the files C\windows ?
-
@speedfreak975 You can extract them to anywhere, ideally somewhere a bit out of the way, where you can delete them later. Make a DirectXTemp folder and extract them into that.
