Did anyone get an update or something?

I just redownloaded everything for patch 1.0.944.2 and I get an update and now my gta 5 won't work what update did we get I just got this update and the game was just fine running good and all on patch 1.0.944.2 but now its not so what new patch are we on now?

@TR71777 Still 944.1 for me here... don't know why but I always seem to be .1 behind everyone else.

@TR71777 When the social club launcher is on screen, take a screenshot and check the version number in the bottom right-hand corner, see what version you are on.
Should look like this. Odd that says 944.2, but when the game is loading, it says 944.1

Game error. Please reboot and restart the game.but everything else was registering and I think its a new patch cause I have this popping up on the lower left corner.

There is no update. Also, Rockstar rarely patch the game during the weekend.

I've read some messy solutions to this problem and some that may seems a bit easier.
Might be advisable as a first step, to move any mods & scripts out of your game folder. Run a verify on the original game files and then put the mods & scripts back after doing so.
The best way to diagnose this kind of problem, is on a completely unmodded game. You have to make sure that the base game files are okay, otherwise you end up chasing your metaphorical tail.
You have been using a mods folder I take it?

@LeeC2202 yup and I just found out what that bs patch did to my game its preventing me from adding add on vehicles and add on peds and I have the correct Gameconfig (1.0.944.2) for Limitless Add-On Vehicles I took out all the addons and the game started up with trainer working I put the addons back in the game crashes even with the Gameconfig (1.0.944.2) for Limitless Add-On Vehicles I really don't know wtf that bitch ass patch did to my game but now I can't even add one addon vehicle now fucking R* needs to stop with the bs patches that breaks the game

@TR71777 Maybe you have a corrupt addon. Take out whichever one you added last and try it again.

@LeeC2202 I just figured it all that update corrupted all my addons I have to reinstall the dlc part of each one in the dlc file in the game itself from my addon cars collections file I have over 600 vehicles collected but only 140+ needs to be redone smmfdh

No, honestly. Because you're not making a lot of sense. There's an alleged update which completely messed up your mods folder?! How is that even possible!?

@meimeiriver I don't use steam I have the 7 disc set from game stop I don't use steam for games like this the only game on steam I have is san andreas and world in conflict that's it the other games are all disc sets

@meimeiriver its not an alleged update I saw what I saw when I tried to play my game the only thing I have in my mods folder are the peds that's it the addon vehicles are in the main DLC folder it corrupted my addon vehicles its making me take out the ones I like I already took out the ones I rarely use and its still crashing smdh this small update really did something to the game smdh why can't R* stop the bs updates from breaking the good mods for the offline players

@TR71777 There haven't been any updates for retail users for at least a week. They did a Social Club update a short while back, that was it.
If you have had any kind of update today, then maybe your game files got corrupted and it downloaded a replacement file... that's what happens when retail users modifiy the original files, the game automatically replaces it straight away.
Edit: But no matter what any update does, it does not and can not modify any file in your mods folder... it just doesn't happen.

@TR71777 Well, cyberzone2 reported there's no update. Lee doesn't seem to have it either. Hence I was wondering whether maybe your game got corrupted some other way.

That's certainly the rule for STEAM. Can't speak for the retail version, but I'd be highly surprised if they messed with it too.

@meimeiriver I never remove my mods folder when the game updates. No changes are ever made to it...
The only people who will ever get caught out by an update modifying their modded files, are Steam users who don't use a mods folder,. For some reason, you can get away with modifying the original Steam gamefiles, whereas retail files are checked everytime the game is run and replaced immediately... which is why the mods folder was added.

@LeeC2202 Yeah, STEAM let's you change the original files, until you either do a manual Verify of your install, or a forced update occurs.
But, like you say, overwriting your original files, when you have a mods folder, is always a terribly bad idea -- even when it's allowed.

If your trainer is working, then it is pretty certain that the problem came are from your mod files. This has nothing to do with the game version. Just think about it, there is no update for nearly one month. Social club is a non-factor here.

^^ A very good catch! If the trainer is working, and gta5.exe was changed (almost inevitable), then the game would almost certainly have crashed immediately upon using it.
