Did anyone get an update or something?

  • @meimeiriver newbie here lol im getting the hang of it noow lol

  • @TR71777 i got the same problem , every gun mod or NPC mod is gone! The only ones left are clothes mods... wtf Rockstar?

  • @LeeC2202 well it looks like I can't add any add ons ever cause no matter what I do even with Gameconfig (1.0.944.2) for Limitless Add-On Vehicles it still crashes I did what you told me to do lee and it verified everything was legit and I went to my uninfected add on vehicle folder to try to add the vehicles back well it still crashed I even reinstalled everything from scratch and it still crashed what ever R* did really messed up my ability to add vehicles or peds I even tried to put them in the mods folder and it still crashed .

  • @TR71777 Let me guess... you verified your files, put everything back and it crashed. You didn't think to add them back one at a time, you just put them all back and it crashed... how far off wrong am I?

There have been no updates to the game... for weeks. So unless Rockstar have decided that you are worthy of special attention, they have done nothing to your game. No updates, no patches, no destruction or infection of your mods folder, nothing. If your game downloaded something today, then it means something was wrong with your game files and needed a download to repair them.

They have never, nor will ever, do anything inside a folder that is not part of the standard game installation. It would be commercial suicide to maliciously attack any files that do not belong to them, so they don't. I could delete half of my original game files right now, it would put them all back and my game would run exactly as it has done, with every single mod intact.

Let's just go back to something you said earlier...

I have to reinstall the dlc part of each one in the dlc file in the game itself from my addon cars collections file I have over 600 vehicles collected but only 140+ needs to be redone

You had 600 vehicles collected, how were they installed? Were they all actually installed? Were they in packs or individually added to your dlclist? I can't even work out what you installed in that statement and where.

So if you need help to sort this out, you need to turn off rant mode, turn on rational mode and provide us with some information that we can make sense of. Move past this "R* destroyed my game for ever" concept, because that really didn't happen. As big as Rockstar might think they are, the Apocalypse is beyond them... trust me.

And here's something you can do before anything else... and please, if you don't want to do anything I might suggest, speak up now, because I have plenty of other things I can be doing.

    1. Rename your scripts folder and your mods folder and run the game... did it crash?
    2. DO NOT rename your mods folder back if it didn't.
    3. Create a NEW mods folder, create a NEW update folder inside that and then copy the newly verified update.rpf file from the main game files, into that NEW mods\update folder.
    4. Run the game... did it crash?
    5. Create a NEW x64\dlcpacks folder inside your mods\update folder.
    6. Pick a SINGLE addon of your choice, not a pack of 10, a single addon and install that into the dlcpacks folder.
    7. Add the gameconfig.xml of your choice (into your mods folder of course), using no more than the standard x1 Ped density and x1 vehicle density options.
    8. Add that SINGLE addon pack to the dlclist.xml and add that to the update.rpf in the new mods folder.
    9. Run the game... did it crash?

If you've got to here and are thinking "I can't be bothered doing all that, I'll just say I've done it"... don't. If I can go to all this length providing an answer on a post that has not much other than rants and cursing, the very least you can do is follow my steps precisely.

When you've done all that, post information back about what happened... and for goodness sake, punctuate, punctuate, punctuate... please.

  • Oh... and just one last thing, after hitting Submit on that post, I cannot believe I actually spent all that time, writing all that text, knowing full well that what I get back, could be utter and total dismissal. Sometimes, my own stupidity amazes me. :(

If it makes you feel any better, it was a very solid post you made there. :)

  • @meimeiriver Well as I'll probably end up banging my head against it, I hope it's rock solid. ;)

Also, that statement doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If he had a DLC with 600 cars in it, the DLC would now simply fail (always possible), but not just load 460 cars, and then just forget about the rest. Doesn't work like that. So, the logical inference would be to check the DLC in question for consistency. And back-track the things he did prior to the crash.

P.S. And maybe he just made an XML boo-boo?

  • @meimeiriver You be careful bringing logic into this thread... don't you go starting a trend that is impossible to maintain. :D I've already dug a 3 foot trench and set up tank traps and barbed wire... I'm ready for anything but logic. ;)

P.s. Might have to get my 8 Momijis on the case too.

Hehe; I hear ya. :) Yeah, honestly, I get panic: been there, done that. But the last thing you want to do, is do something rash (like, I dunno, blindly doing a restore of a backup that likely wasn't totally up-to-date?). Like you say, rant mode off, rational mode on.

  • Something def broke my my Street Races script....was working perfectly fine 2 days ago.
I come home today and load up GTAV and its broken

  • @TR71777 Well, I have to thank @V4D3R for popping the cork on this bottle of fun.

Pop quiz... what's the difference between your cheerleader photo and the black screen that's after it? Apart from one being nice to look at and the other being pretty boring that is...

I'll tell you to avoid any further problems... your launcher screen says version 944, the black screen says version 678. Notice how they don't match?

That means that you have installed an old update.rpf file into a newer game version... and then you wonder why the game is crashing.

I think we can be pretty certain now, Rockstar have not been round your house breaking your mods folder... you have. So that nice long list of steps to perform I wrote up there ^^^ start at step 3, your existing update.rpf file in the mods folder is recycle-bin material.

@LeeC2202 And this is why I told him to not be "doing a restore of a backup that likely wasn't totally up-to-date? :P"

And holy batman, 678?! When was it at that? Like 2 years ago?!

  • @meimeiriver 5/13/16 to be exact. ;)

It's more fun to exaggerate a bit. :P Besides, a year ago, that's an eternity in backup time!

Just following the advice of our hyper-cute radio DJ, Cara Delevinge. EDIT: See my new sig. :)

  • @TR71777 Nice screenshots. Whatcha got there next to World of Warships? :stuck_out_tongue:

    I'm just joking.

This is actually turning out to be a pretty agreeable thread to read up on during breakfast :) So much help offered even.

  • @V4D3R thanks lol I have a lot of stuff that I try to mod myself for personal reasons but they don't work at times lol

  • @LeeC2202 I just found out what was wrong I guess there was a temporary lock on my online account by R* that affected my offline mods cause of their ban system R* made a mistake on their end and they fixed it to where I can mod offline again there ban system mistakenly got me for no reason I even called R* I have their help line phone number and they helped me step by step to fix it and they are trying a newer ban system that can recognize modders and cheaters for online

Nonsense! Online bans don't affect offline.

    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-5-not-banning-players-for-using-single-player-/1100-6427170/

There are people on this site with a perma-ban, they can never go online, yet they still mod single player offline.

I've told you what was wrong... you have an old update.rpf file in your mods folder. It's nothing to do with Rockstar. No kind of ban is going to move old files around your system and place them in folders on your hard drive.

Trying to blame Rockstar in any way for this, is quite frankly, absurd. Accept responsibility for your own actions...

Good grief... I'm done in here.

Yup, I was gonna wait for you to call it, but, now that you did, yes, that story was utter BS. He even showed us a build number from the early 14th century, and then goes on to make up stories about how this was all Rockstar's fault. Geez, TR71777, own your sh*t.

  • @meimeiriver I wonder when Rockstar release GTA V. Is it BC or AD? :smiley_cat:

  • @meimeiriver ecuse me I don't have an old build everything is up to date I even called R* thank you very much they fucking helped me fix the problem they made with their ban system if you ever go on their forums there are players having issues like mine I didn't do shit to cause this bullshit fucking R* did not me I am damn near 40 yrs old I am not fucking stupid or fucking dumb I did 14 yrs in the fucking army and fucking retards and fucktards can't join the army

  • MODERATOR

@TR71777 Ah, more ranting. Okay, now I'm convinced! :P That was sarcasm, btw.

  • @LeeC2202 bro you don't get it I called R* they even said it was on their end they helped me fix the issue hell even other players that don't go online as much and plays offline mainly has had issues like this when their system makes an error
