pointless mods

i am starting to see people do this a lot on the mod website. why make a mod that someone else had made but yours is of worse quality than the other persons? why even bother making it? why make another kia or hyundai or mazda when there are already multiple copys of the same car that are all terrible but you made one that isnt any better or worse than the ones on there. what is the point or logic of that? if i make a mod that someone else made my goal is to make it better, different or both, not just to make the same crappy mod! end rant

You mean the same audi or bmw that are uploaded 10 times from the same games ?
They all have differents stuff, differents textures, differents tunning, differents rims, different handling, different size, different extra. In the end, you are free to choose which one you prefer.

That's an interesting line in your comment... and as a creator, I would say, because all those multiple copies were not made by me.
The buzz of creating isn't from being better than everyone else, it's from being able to create something/anything. Some people can't create, no matter how hard they try and would probably give their metaphorical right-arm to be able to create something worse than someone else.
It's also how you learn, by putting your creation alongside what are potentially better versions for a comparison. You get feedback, you get encouragement and those things drive you to be better. I think if people only ever released something that was better than what is already out there (and let's not forget, better is subjective), there would be very few mods released.
I'm sure every person who uploads a same-model mod thinks theirs is the best, so who gets to decide who is? One might have great mesh details and poor textures. Another might have OK mesh details and great tuning, another might just be OK across the board in all aspects, so which is the best?
At any point in time, there will always be someone better and there will always be someone worse but you are still in amongst a fairly limited group of people, who have an ability to create something.
I think from a purely creative standpoint, anything that helps you learn has a point and as such, I don't believe any mod is pointless, because they all serve a purpose for the creator.

@jrem7315 It's not about doing something different. It's about doing something you enjoy. Something that personally gives you satisfaction.
People don't necessarily upload mods for competition, or to see what's best....there's multiple reasons for uploading and creating. It simply isn't simple.
Also....what Lee said. I agree.
