[Suggestion] External text boxes or [SPOILERS] for mod descriptions

  • Hello guys,

I noticed in the community that alot of people having trouble with reading mod descriptions.
Some people really need a few small text as information for a modification, and the other one need alot of information about the mod. And for my fully featured mods, i hit the too much text level for noobs. They see it and get scared and don't know where to start. Its a problem for me and other people like GTA5KoRn to make it perfect for everyone.

So what is my suggestion to solve this?

Yea, i would like to have something similar to the forum of GTA 5 mods for mod descriptions.
But for something like a "What features the mod have?", i would like to put this section for the people that want to know what in something like a

, or maybe an onMouseHoldingonTextEvent that pop up a text box with scroll bars that shows the mod features once we hold the mouse over the for ex. custom "Features" text from the main mod description.
It should looks like to something like this:
    alt text

That would help a alot to make everything in the mod description very clear and sorted.
That would be also very helpful on changelog lists. Look at Menyoo! Its huge!
    @administrators @rappo

So good idea? Any suggestion to this idea?
    Let's talk

    Thanks

    cheers

  • I think if there was to be a change in the way the description section is handled, I would prefer this kind of thing. There was another user on the site doing their own website and this idea seemed to work really well.

The idea is a set of collapsible sections for each part of your description text. It probably fits in more with your
idea.

  • @LeeC2202 Nice idea man :D looks also very cool

  • @LeeC2202 But i would also prefer that we don't need to miss our own text styling for the spoiler titles

  • @MrGTAmodsgerman I'm not sure what happened to the user who showed us this idea, he seems to have gone quiet. I know rappo liked it when he saw it in action.

The one thing I think it does do, is makes the relevant sections very clear. If the user wants to know how to install the mod, they only have to open that section and not get distracted by text that isn't connected to installing the mod.

It's also probably very easy for translators to work with, which is essential for the main site.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean by miss your own text styling, sorry.

Are you saying that you would like to change the font used, or maybe the colour?

  • @LeeC2202 yes

  • I would like to push this, cuz i post it at the time where Rappo was responsable to made this.
Now @Global-Moderators @administrators @Dark0ne Will something made like this soon or in the future?

Its really important to clear up descriptions for people who have problems to see what they need to know. I don't have that much, but there still alot of people that got this problem.
