Working Side And Rear View Mirrors For All Cars
I'm not a modder, so I don't really know the extent of how hard to would be to do. Since it hasn't been done yet I'm sure this is a lot to ask and a huge job, but as an observer I've seen the modding community accomplish great things.
@YodatheHobbit that would be fantastic if that was possible and working window wipers would be good to
@YodatheHobbit The problem is that if someone makes this, our game will experience a poor performance, because each mirror will render behind cars, peds, etc, and game will give us Memory Errors all the time. I think that's why Rockstar didn't implemented it yet.
The game makes the process kinda impossable. There are mirrors in the game that accomplish this. However, these working mirrors are included only in the nonmoving mirrors. Oleg, Zmodeler guy, said that this material is impossable to apply to vehicles.
I.E: the downtown police station has a mirror in the lockers with a working reflection.
@YodatheHobbit Nice point, if not the reflection working mirrors but is it possible to make a power side mirrors, like auto close and auto open, like in most of the cars these days.
@ashishcw @Jerry9090 @YodatheHobbit From Mkeezay30: car mirrors come from a UVmapped texture, so mirrors are a small part of a larger texture, to give mirrors a higher res texture, you need to resize the entire texture to probably 16K, I tried with 8K and it was still ugly, one thing that could be done though is extracting the car models, and adding a texture for mirrors only, then exporting the mirrors as single textures instead of combined with all windows. I have noticed I'm able to change reflection types with the shaders though, so I might see how a full mirror shader works on car mirrors, that could really help.
Its not because computer performance, if it was the case then first person would not work badly, its just that they need to get every perspective on the 3 mirrors which will take forever taking literally 3 x longer than they were making first person
