So I saw that I have to replace the old update.rpf with my old modified one, but I installed loads of things onto it that took me many hours, and I don't want to go through that again, is it possible to combine them without replacing?

@Phoebe Sadly no, you have to copy the new update.rpf over and then re-add all the content you had added.
All sorts of things could have changed in the new version, from simple value changes, to version number changes, to complete new file additions, especially to cater for the new content.
