How to change Vehicles in Fort Zancudo
-
How do I set the game to load up an add-on plane instead of the Lazer, for example?
-
@Slapnuts popgroups.ymt maybe? Something that handles vehicle spawning naturally. I know you can change which airplanes land/take off on the airport so i think what you want can also be done through that file.
-
@Slapnuts you wanna get the vehiclemodesets.meta, popgroups.ymt, and dispatch.meta. Add the vehicles you want by typing in their model names under their category. The military vehicles are under the following:
Army
Planes
Planes small
Military
Army planes
Army planes smallPlease note either vehiclemodelsets.meta or popgroups.ymt has a probability option which controls the probability of whether the vehicle spawns or not. Make sure that you make the probability 100 which guarantees that the vehicle will spawn in trafffic or in your case, automatically have planes spawn in the air or dispatch when you have enough stars. I personally have added all my add on cars into these files (including add on police cars) so I don't need to use script mods which are an alternative but tax the ram too much.

If you would like to change the laser specially, for example in my game I have F-35s spawning instead of Lazers, you will need to do a replace mod installation. To do this you will need to replace the yft and ytd associated with the Lazer and then also change the vehicle and handling meta files. I know to some this can be intimating but if you need more assistance or run into problems do not hesitate to ask. I am a big fan of replacing Zancudo vehicles... I have F-35s, Ospreys, Seakings, and Viper attack choppers that have replaced all of the vanilla aircraft.

@DarthPungz ya you can replace the lazer files if you wish to completely replace the plane. But I'd you want an add on you should go with what I said

Yes but the original poster said "instead of Lazer."
Does editing popgroups stop the spawn of vanilla vehicles and force spawn add-on in the default spawn locations? I don't think it does.
Otherwise I have been putting time and energy into this complete replacement for nothing.
-
@DarthPungz Popgroups-With land vehicles, you could enter the name of an add-on vehicle, and depending on it's probability, it will spawn a lot, or almost never. Any add-on, not just the GTA add-on vehicles...and obviously you could remove cars spawning too. If I removed the Buffalo from all sections, it would stop spawning. Unless it's in a random event thing.
-
@DarthPungz it won't stop spawning vanilla vehicles unless you delete the vanilla vehicles out of the file

Wrong.
It won't spawn vanilla vehicles if you replace the vanilla model yft & ytd files with modded models.
I am still not sure if editing popgroups alone will make add-on vehicles spawn parked in the spaces where the Lazer or Titan spawn. Popgroups manages spawning traffic; moving and ambient vehicles... Some spawns like the Zancudo aircraft are hardwired to spawn all the time.
The original poster asked about replacing the Lazer specifically... So if he wanted a F-14A instead of a Lazer to spawn in all of those parking spots at Zancudo all the time he would need do a replacement installation NOT a popgroup edit.

To replace the Lazer specifically you would need to first choose a jet that you would prefer to have where the Lazers spawn.... I like the f-35. Download the mod whatever it is.
Here is an f-16 Lazer replacement mod: https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/f-16a-block-15-configuration-lazer-replace-yasirbh
As you should notice, replacement mods require you to replace the yft and ytd files, edit the vehicle meta and edit the handling meta... So replacement mods are more work than add-on mods for sure. To get the yrf and ytd files out is an add-on mod simply use OpenIV to open the add-on dlc.rpf and locate the files and extract them to your desktop temporarily...

@DarthPungz Im pretty sure you can just delete their names out of the file and the vanilla vehicles wont spawn at all, unless its set to spawn in an ambient scenario or in a mission. Replacing the yft and ytd will get your new vehicle to spawn but the game dosent know that. If you install an add on and then add the model name to the popgroups and the other files the game will know to spawn the vanilla and add on vehicles. I can upload my popgroups and vehiclemodelsets.meta files to show you what I mean if you want.
