Is it possible to turn a replace car into a add on car?

  • I was wondering if you could take a car that was just for replace and make it into a add on car yourself and if your doing a police car is it possible to get the lights and sirens working?

Of course it is possible. :) It's actually rather easy. See: [Tutorial | Vehicles/Weapons] How to do: Add-On's / Replacer's

Once you created your first DLC pack entries, adding new cars becomes a breeze.

As for Police cars, google for ELS (Emergency Light System). There are several cars that support it, like 2014 Slicktop Dodge Charger

@sirkingnut As a 'pro' tip (ahem), just start with taking apart an existing addon car DLC (preferably for a single car). It will give you an instant, valid, DLC structure, from which to work on. You'd be replacing the car names and such. And just start the car off with the 0_default_modkit and '0' lightsettings (so that you don't need a carcols.meta yet), so that you at least have a spawnable, working car. Then start tweaking handling, vehicles.meta , etc., for what the car actually needs. And maybe add a carcols.meta for when it needs custom modkits/lightsettings.

@sirkingnut I just keep on blabbing, don't I?! But, seriously, not only is it possible to convert to addon cars, I've come to believe it's preferable, even. Last thing you want, is high-poly, huge-textured cars driving around in regular traffic! Cuz those will wreak havoc on your game resources. For personal (read: addon) use it's not a problem, though, as you're always just spawning a single car for yourself (the one you're driving). But you really don't want even like 10 different -- what should be addon-cars really -- on your streets!

  • Alright, thank you for the help.
