None of my mods are working...??
-
I have tried installing a few different mods using OpenIV, but none of them are working. My Script Hook works fine but none of the '.oiv' files are working. Any help?
-
@Moondog13 oiv? o.O strange expression, how exactly did you "install" these mods?
-
@FoxtrotDelta '.oiv' is the file type the mods usually come as from the download. I attempted to install some by opening OpenIV and using the 'Package Installer' tool as suggested by most forums/install instructions.
-
@Moondog13 okay. can you tell me the name or link of the mod you tried to install and didnt work? i'll try and help.
-
@FoxtrotDelta I have tried this mod "https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/superman-script-mod" and this mod "https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/spider-man-v-net"
I couldn't seem to get either to work. But, I'm unsure if there's something else I need to do after installing it.
-
@Moondog13 Well if it actually failed as you claim, then OIV would have reported it as failed. If that were really the case, then that means no person would be using either of those mods, and we know that is not the case. Did you actually install the script that is what makes this whole thing work in the first place?

@Moondog13 well scripts mods need. scripthook.net scripthook.dll scripthookdotnet . please read the requirements for script mods. and then dowload them. you might need to update netframework 4.6 microsoft redistributables etc. only then those scripts will be able to run.

I tried to step into a n00b's shoes now and to my own surprise I am with @Moondog13 in this case. I downloaded the superman mod in the hope to find an installation instruction. There is a readme in the download but instead of an instruction it provided a URL. I opened that page and found no instructions either, just a list of things which need to be installed as well (scripthook etc.). So if I wouldn't know from my experience I would be helpless either. Apparently Julio Nib doesn't care much for proper instructions.
-
@Cyron43 scripts are easy, u just need to place them in a working scripts folder.
May be that's why he didn't give anymore instructions than, put the script in the scripts folder.
-
@FoxtrotDelta So, have none of you guys used OpenIV? Because thats what I found (easily) that was suggested to use to install mods. And, it seemed to put the files in the scripts folder, but still nothing when I open GTA. Do I have to use Scripthook to activate them in game? Or, if there's more than one mod installed (or in the scripts file) do they all just quit working?
-
To make mods work from "Scripts" folder (.Dll) you need scripthook . net (You also need scripthook to make scripthook . net working)
To make .asi working - Scripthook
for Mods like car replacements , textures etc - OpenIV (And Openiv.asi) and Mods folder
-
@Moondog13 I never use oiv files I always like to do stuff manually so that I know what goes where etc
You might have scripts folder but lack scripthookdotnet , and netframework 4.6 and redistributable.

@FoxtrotDelta You don't need to tell me. I am a modder myself.
However, when I write a guide for my mods I always keep users like this one in my mind: https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/9147/help
