How to replace all cars in game to real ones.
-
HI
I want to replace all my cars to real ones in game. Is it any download i can do or a list of all cars in game and what to changes in to?
-
@JuhaniTV You can replace any car with any vehicle mod you've downloaded. Just keep in mind that your game will suffer massive FPS drops if you replace too many vehicles, no matter how good your PC is.
-
@JuhaniTV and you will have texture problems some will go missing or flicker on and off. Buildings and roads will be the first things to disappear. Stick with addon cars only.

If you replace about 20-50 car is it ok? With an average of 20Mo per car model.

@Vin-s i wouldnt do anything over 25 replaced cars. But eventually you will get texture problems. And then you could get the problem of floating parts showing up on the replace cars. Because the game likes to put tuning parts on cars and trying to put tuning parts from vanilla cars on the addon cars will cause glitches or floating parts around the replace car.

Ok. Thank you dude one more time 👍

dam this was me thinking I'm gonna replace every single vehicle in the game...
-
i replaced 150 vehicles in my game and i just suffer from FPS drops from time to time and i have a crappy PC.
you just need to be smart with your choices.
-
@coool666 dude how the hell could you pull off a stunt like that, I had 50 cars replace and I got a slide show. were your cars 20000 polygons each?

This is what I was planning to do, but now I'm rethinking that plan
Perhaps I'll just replace 50 of the most common cars with their real life counterparts (perhaps low-quality?) so traffic will look more life like, and then just add-on the cars that I plan to actually drive

@ModzRUs If I tried to do anything close to this my PC would light itself on fire. I once had about 2 dozen replacements, but had to pare back to about a half a dozen, because the pop-in was WAY over-the-top. What I have come to realize - why so many can do this - while I can't - is because I have edits to my gameconfig, popcycle, and popgroups that dramatically increase vehicular and ped densities.
So here is my compromise:
I already have all the real-life badges for the vanillas. What I will eventually get around to doing is replacing all the cars I want for myself, spawn with trainer, store in my SPA garages, and then remove their entries from popgroups, so they don't spawn naturally in traffic.

@eshenk @ModzRUs @v8charger222 @forter4 @JuhaniTV @Vin-s I liked the idea of replacing everything when i first started with modding the game but there are many issues appearing after:
For exemple with a gtx 980ti and the original gameconfig (and a custom one later)
+all max options except the advanced ones, msaa x4 1920x1080p:i had replaced easily over 200 of them
(only all-features-available cars, 50000-700000polys, excluding bikes that are very unstable). The game was stable during daytime (even on the highway), i had some serious fps drops from 55-80 to 35-55 during nighttime because of the reflections on a lot of high poly models.
The biggest problems were the vehicles.meta and handling.meta modifications (manually setting all lods to 500, convertible roofs had to be disabled, not fitting engine sounds, retarded flipping-over handling, yes i did that for over a hundred of cars, what an amazing life !)
Then there were the ingame fully tuned vehicles appearing randomly during the game (because obviously, you've replaced them with a model that doesn't have that much tuning, so the vanilla tuning on the modded car driven by a random ped will first screw the textures then crash your game). There is a hotfix for that by t0bi on this website btw.
There's also the not-very important issue related to missions (because of the amount of doors and stuff, you won't be able to finish a mission).
Let's not forget the rockstar updates that could fuck many things up if you don't know what to back-up and stuff, also don't replace more than 5 vehicles at once and modify their meta files before launching a game, if it crashes, you'll be lost if you didn't back up the particular files.
The list of issues goes on, i've forgotten some probably, i also wasn't capable of playing more than an hour without a crash (yes even by setting everything perfectly for every single vehicle, i had a random crash that could happen by playing 5 to 60 minutes, probably too much for the game to handle).
So if you've read that whole book of mine that i've wrote, you'd understand that you shouldn't push the replacing thing to the extreme if you would like to get a peaceful game without having the fear of encountering a random crash, sooo yeah i've chosen the add-on method only now (except for the tailgater>audi s8, obviously)
In other words, if you're not exceeding 50 replaced cars it should not be hard to handle, there is probably a way to do the same as me without the crashes but it's not worth your time, cheers!
btw by reinstalling the game and getting back all vanilla cars, i've gained like 10-15 fps only, so it should be less if you don't add as many cars as i had added (yes 10-15 fps with every single appearing random car replaced by a high poly model with lods set to 500, don't ask me how idk).

"Then there were the ingame fully tuned vehicles appearing randomly in the game (causing the game to crash because obviously, you've replaced them with a model that doesn't have that much tuning, so the vanilla tuning on the modded car driven by a random ped will crash your game) but there is a hotfix by someone on this website (he forgot some cars btw, you've got to modify his file by setting the remaining vehicles tunning ids to 0)."
THIS!!!
Could this have been the cause for the random crashes all along? Hmmmmm.....
I am not thinking so. I had initially been having trouble with massive pop-in, where entire buildings and terrain (ONLY in the City) would take up to a full minute to render their textures. This would especially be true when my wanted level increased (using RDE). I kept playing with some figures in vehicles.meta to put distance between my replaced vehicles spawning to close to each other, to mitigate some stress on the GPU, and altering some gameconfig parameters. Finally the pop-in issue was resolved. Game was playing great! Then one day, I started experiencing random crashes, about 45 minutes to an hour or so. I altered more gameconfig parameters, and got the random crashes solved, but pop-in returned!
I am starting to believe that if you tell gameconfig to allocate X amount of resources to enough parameters beyond vanilla, you start to run into an issue where you no longer have enough in-game resources to handle everything regardless of how powerful your gaming rig is. I have a nVidia 1070, and have myself under-budgeted by nearly half of it's vRam capacity with 16 Gigs of mem, and an i7-4790k CPU.
Just now I scaled back on more parameters that I had gotten from @Willief23 gameconfig for all fixes. I compared many of his values to the RDE gameconfig, and found that quite a many, where insanely higher than the RDE config. I don't do any add-ons other than what came with RDE, so I scaled back on many, not all, just the ones I thought might be contributing to my issues. Soon, I will test for results, and report back my findings.

^ RDE scripts mostly cause Pop-in's because they Load every car model at once after the game crashes (Didn't check the script but it seems like it works like this , because after deleting all the scripts , pop-in is gone and i have all RDE Vehicles , except that wanted level is not the same then)
-
@eshenk That was my only "texture vanishing then crashing reason" the tunned spawning vehicle thingy was pretty rare, i'm not using rde or some other stuff like that, so there are probably many reasons for that to happen, you're right and i'm glad that you've found a solution for your issue.
I could pop all the 120 saved slots from simpletrainer's menu in one place (i've parked 120 hq cars and saved their locations, spawning all of them in a parking lot wasn't causing any texture issue or crash).
-
@Cerberuss I don't use a trainer, so doing add-ons was never an option. I don't care if vanillas load naturally, I just want real-life replacements for myself. I am now thinking, to simply replace all vehicles I want, and then add their names to the SPA garage files, and then remove their entries from popgroups, so they won't spawn naturally. I just can't go too crazy, else I will have a lot of repetition of similar vehicles spawning everywhere, LOL.
-
@HeySlickThatsMe I don't think that is it at all. Don't you think the mod authors would have noticed that as well, while bug testing? I doubt they would have missed something so obvious. It's just the fact that we are trying to do more than just RDE by itself - there's the everything else on top - increased resolution textures, extra scripting, re[place/add-ons, increased vehicular and ped densities, etc...
-
@eshenk ye ye ye i know
but last time i was testing (Not the 3.0 version) after i deleted the script files from RDE everything came back to normal
its propably the vehicle ghost fix because it loads all the models so they don't dissapear or something
-
@HeySlickThatsMe and @Cerberuss Ok, I think I just stumbled upon the cause for pop-in. I was using the modded vegetation files from Redux. His textures are 2k and 4k!! Vanillas are 512, LOL. I restored vanilla files. Keep in mind I play my game with DSR set to 4k on top of all that. Man, if this doesn't make a difference, I will throw in the towel at this point, LOL.
-
@eshenk I suggest L.A Vegetation
Romito textures are trash , the are basicly normal vanilla textures with different colors and sharpen + they are UPSCALED to 2048x2048 , he didn't do any edits to the texture than these
also the "4k Plants" which where all the plants are 1024x1024 because its one 4096x4096 texture sheet
-
Iirc the internal heap is not big enough to accommodate much more than what is needed by the vanilla game. NTA mentioned it on gtaforums once. Therefore memory- related problems are pretty much unavoidable unless someone figures out how to reallocate the heap at run-time.
