[SCRIPT] [RELEASED] Drag Meets 1.8



  • Official discussion thread about the Drag Meets mod.

    What the latest update brings to the table:

    • Code optimization: I've finetuned some of the code (and script files) to reduce script load and make it less prone to crashes. Nothing big.

    • Manual Transmission: Reworked the Gear Changing Ability so it's more realistic and emulates Manual Transmission behavior. Drivers will now benefit from a small temporal boost each time they change gear. The higher their skill, the higher the boost.

    • Easier to understand: I've added some dynamic instructions inside the game so it's easier for the players to get how the Meets work and enjoy them fully.

    • Less crashing: Reduced the chance of Meets not loading. I've implemented some failsafes in case it keeps happening.

    • New Meet: I've added a new Meet on the road to Humane Labs. It's a tricky one, beware of the left lane.

    • More cars: I've added some new cars, mostly cars from the latest updates. They're way faster than the old cars, so there's more challenge now.

    • Passenger option: Added ability to enter the car you bet on as passenger.

    • Redefined car categories: I've redone the car subcategories so the Meets are more coherent. Big meets (the airport ones) only accept Supercars and fast cars in general, and the rest vary between Street cars and Gang/tuned vehicles.

    Suggestions and Contributions:
    All suggestions are welcome, but keep in mind that I don't have big plans for the mod. Only new Meets and new cars are planned.

    You can contribute Meet locations and vehicle designs if you want, that's always needed!

    Addon Cars
    I plan on supporting Addon Vehicles in future updates. I'll try to support as much car mods as possible, but if you want to make sure certain Addon car of tour choice is going to be supported, let me know.


    Some things I'd like to know about from the people who enjoy this mod:

    • How are you enjoying the Drag Meets?
    • Do you prefer participating or betting?
    • Do you like the new Manual Transmission simulation?

  • The spawn problems are related to vehicle persistence mods, after removing mods so I never had any problems, I'm creating new cars, and I noticed that the capture script sometimes fails in the model name and this also generates the problem

    It could improve the intelligence of the pilots in the place of waiting, how many cars they stay beating each other besides the pedestrians who are watching, they do not leave the place, in some places like no way for human laboratories the cars coils in the return or they can not Brake In time, you can try an instant shipping mode just after an arrival.

    The return to the waiting place could be faster



  • A better organized form of waiting area would be cool, with this could remove the automatic allocation in the match, could try a way to classify each meet, I spend a lot of time playing in this mod it has a lot of potential, I think it could grow much more.



  • My programming knowledge is zero, but I have many ideas, I hope they are useful.



  • @tmvbr I've updated the script today, adding faster AI traveling. I'm afraid the rest of the issues will need a complete rewrite of the script, 'cause its a big fat mess codewise, specially because it's old.

    All ideas are welcome!

    I could not test it yet, I would not want to lose the cars I already added to the drivers.xml, I noticed that your new script has the cars themselves and this is conflicting, it would be nice to send the driver.xml file always and just update the dll And meets, the drivers.xml may be optional, and the dll does not contain cars.



  • @tmvbr no, its a new option that i've enabled by default, look into DragMeets/config.ini. set force_random_tuning to false and the old cars will return.

    It randomizes the cars, doesn't change models. You can keep your drivers.xml and not replace it. Will work.
