Raw 3D Model from Project Cars (NASCAR)

  • No worries i'll put the game on downloading . will take a while. as i don't keep my pc running all night. and have to go out during the day. we shall see.

  • @FoxtrotDelta Do you have the US Race DLC?

  • @FoxtrotDelta My only other option would be the naughty option... and trust me, I would feel no guilt from using that option with that company. :imp:

  • @LeeC2202 What option? Is it the same name of the people who used this flag?
    alt text

  • @V4D3R Indeed it is.

  • @LeeC2202 you can , if you think you'll be faster :P ripping is also considered wrong just as the above flag :P

  • @LeeC2202 I've got plenty of experience in that field, "helping" my friends downloading the games they love. They can spend $600 to buy a GTX 1080, but $60 for GTA V? Nooo, "it's a waste of money", they say.
Anyway I hope FoxtrotDelta has bought the DLC, I really want a NASCAR Ford Fusion in my GTA V.

  • @FoxtrotDelta I think they should give it to me (the DLC) for free seeing as they sold me a game that is truly unplayable with a gamepad. :D

  • @LeeC2202 If it's that unresponsive when using a gamepad, image the fun I had playing it with a keyboard. :)

  • @V4D3R Oh lordy, I can't imagine it on a keyboard. :(

It wasn't that it was unresponsive, it was that they have no idea about controller linearity, which is supposed to reduce input levels at lower speeds. So you could be barely moving but the slightest movement on the stick would result in almost full steering... it was horrible. Apparently the console version is the same, which is really poor.

When you've played a Turn 10 game, which uses a gamepad really well, it shows up how bad WMD are with controller input... but they don't care and that's what annoys me.

Anyway... this is just me ranting now, which is not what this thread is about, so I will be quiet now. :(

  • @Voltrock Saldy Project Cars only has Ford Fusion, although I would love to do the Chevy and Toyota Camry as well :/

Real Racing 3 has all three models, but skins are only 1024x1024 quality :(

Also, I think there are dedicated tools for PCars, so no need for a ripper.

  • @V4D3R me too. I also have a Nascar Race track model, but... I have no effing clue about map mods xD

  • @SkylineGTRFreak said in Raw 3D Model from Project Cars (NASCAR):

I can't find any dedicated tools... looks like it's going to be a ripper job unless someone else knows the links to those tools. They're probably easy to find for people that rip models on a regular basis.

  • WAIT

I got it. I got it. All teams fall back, I say again: FALL BACK!

    @LeeC2202 @FoxtrotDelta @V4D3R

I really appreciate the help though :D

  • @SkylineGTRFreak LOL and I had just discovered that the tool Rarefacer linked to is in fact the one to rip the cars. :D

What the heck, I might get the script and rip things anyway... it'll give me something to play with.

Edit: And I have just discovered that all the DLC is on my drive, it obviously just unlocks it in the game... interesting.

  • ...

so the problem was that the livery is mapped on UV Channel 2, which gets deleted upon .obj export. Opened up the original 3DSMax file to export it properly, but everytime I set UV2 as primary the export crashes. Grrmbl.

  • How is it that the whole world seems to be using an importer script for max that I just cannot find? Simply use the 3DS Max MEB import script they all say... can I find that script? Can I hell... I'm sure the internet hides search results when I search for something. :D

  • @LeeC2202 The biggest rippers magic always are hide in "Xentax", "Zenhax", "Auriemma", "Señor Casaroja", "cra0kalo" and "Facepunch" spell words.

  • @Rarefacer I have never even heard of any of those places. :(

I probably rip a couple of models every 5 or 6 years, if that, so I just don't go to the places that discuss this kind of thing. I will have a look later, thanks.

  • @LeeC2202 Sometimes I feel ashamed to do inverse engineering since 2004 with Call of Duty 1, but the end of each chapter with any game, is a huge amazed feeling when we can see the anatomy of the great work of skilled and creative people. Around the world exists few guys feeding the modding communities with fresh material, perhaps only a few see beyond of the fun, the art in every model, texture, sound, animation and script when dives in a game content.

  • @Rarefacer There's no shame in enjoying modding and reverse engineering games. I suppose my problem was that I was in developer mode for 18 - 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I just never had the time or the desire to see how any other games worked.

And when you are surrounded every day by people creating the stuff you saw in other games, it kinda took the edge off needing to see what other people were creating. I was never much more than average at what I did but I have worked with some incredibly talented people, that were capable of creating amazing things. So I suppose I got my enjoyment from being part of that side of things.

I also found digging through data files hard work and I ultimately didn't (and couldn't) understand what was there anyway. My thought processes are more logic oriented, not number crunching, so I used to really struggle... I just didn't enjoy it. :(

I poked a few sprites into memory with an expert cartridge on the C64, made a few Doom levels and did some Indycar Racing and Nascar skins but never much more than that.

But the modding community needs the people who enjoy digging through data, decrypting and extracting the files for people to work with. They're essential to keep the modding wheels turning. It all takes talent and dedication and there is no shame in either of those things, only pride... and gratitude from (most of) the people who gain from their efforts. I say most of, because I think some people expect everything to be just given them, so don't appreciate it as much.

  • @LeeC2202 do you need the mesh importing script for ninja ripper meshes? into 3ds max? i have that. i never paid much attention to the script's name.

  • @FoxtrotDelta No, it was the MEB importing script, to import the NFS Shift models (which are the same as pCars) into Max.

All over the place I can find the tool that exports DAE/FBX to MEB but I cannot find the script that imports MEB into 3DS Max. It's like nobody ever mentions it, it's bizarre. :(

  • @LeeC2202 ahh i see.

  • @FoxtrotDelta I think I have found it...

No idea how long it takes though so I have to just sit here watching Max seemingly do nothing and hope something finally appears after a few minutes.

Various panels have disappeared though, which based off the post I was reading, is an indication that the process is working.

Edit: Scrap that... it isn't working at all. :(
