OPEN IV MALWARE
-
so I updated open iv and kasperky told me it is using malicious software. Now what do i do? can open iv be trusted?
-
@gtaenthusiast may be it's a falseposituve, can you share the screenshot of the message and file name?
-
@FoxtrotDelta deleted open iv. I'm sure there is something packed in there though.
-
@gtaenthusiast you should report it if you feel like that
-
@FoxtrotDelta I'm sure I am not the only one who feels suspicious about it. theres always some risky stuff in these third party gta mods
-
@GooD-NTS someone needs to get 'false-positive' explained I guess
-
@gtaenthusiast Have fun modding GTA again.... oh wait, you can't.
OpenIV is the backbone of GTA modding. Without it, you can't really do anything(except for script mods, which should really be your real enemy)
-
@ReNNie rather then talk, explain.
-
@gtaenthusiast Happens all the time with AV programs. Basically, its when an AV program thinks a legitimate software has malware in it. And since OpenIV has been around for at least 2 years for GTA 5(it was in the GTA 4 times too, so more years
) we both can say it was a false-positive.

Sigh...Anti-Virus software is encouraged by major companies to give false positives to anything that they consider "sticking it to the man tweaks". Which Cockstar likely considers OPENIV for example. If you plan to do anything outside of the realm of a granny downloading family photos then you need to consider false positives. A lot of things out there such as Windows tweaks have the same problem because Microshit wants to scare you away from their "vision" and not have things run the way you like.
