BTW, does anyone know if anyone else has managed to make something like the "long take" before? - in GTA V I mean. Before I started making it, I found a couple threads in different places asking about how to do it, but I don't know if by the time I posted it anybody else had already done it before. It was a really long time in-between because of the pandemic.

[MISC] [WIP] New "Arthouse" Film For the Cinema (1917 Parody)
This seems less like a work in progress and more like lots of work without progress. The in game film activities are kind of an interesting novelty, but I personally found every one of them boring to watch, and I always wished people who make machinima would then mod them into the theater. So that's what I meant to do. Whether it's any less boring is debatable.
The other day I tried asking if there was a way to prevent the game from compressing these files to potato quality during gameplay. I assume I won't get a satisfactory answer to this, so I guess the idea is effectively dead. But the video I made for it still exists. - Or maybe I'll just embrace the poor video quality and release it eventually anyway, idk.
Anyway, it'll be below, more or less finished, I think I focused too much on little details like getting rid of laptops and keypads, or getting one unbroken "shot" and not enough on making it appropriately cinematic. But I worked hard!
And again - it wasn't really made for YouTube anyway. Either way there's a funnier one I plan to release sometime about Michael obsessing over a new Cluckin' Bell product called "Can-o-bell". I think the video quality matters even less for that one, so if it's ever finished the mod will be forthcoming, but I have to start downloading other mods again, to work on it and that just sounds exhausting rn.
I forgot to mention, I felt the need to age restrict it myself, because of a sight gag in the middle. Sorry about that.

A way to replace films in the cinema with HD
Hi, I wanted to make a parody of 1917, that would replace the "Arthouse" film in game. I've got a 10 minute "unbroken take" sequence, so it's pretty long, and I even managed myself to make the in-game activity of watching a movie last almost as long as a half an hour, but the game automatically compresses the file to an extremely low quality. Normally I would think there's no way around this, but Rockstar put an HD trailer in one of the update files, so I was wondering if there was a way to at least get it to a decent 720? Anybody know if it's possible?
Here's the video if anyone's interested, since the mod will probably never get made now, I'm not very happy with it, except for the long take sequence, but whatever.

@futurestoryteller This would actually be a lot more useful than I'm letting on.

RE: Looking for a white background, PHOTOSHOOT booth for Car Show
@CrazyDoug17 It's nice of Foxunitone to offer, but I should just point out there are a number of green screen mods that can probably do exactly what you're looking for, if you have minimal video editing experience. If you know how to edit textures you could probably import one of them and manually change the color to white.
Another alternative: you could possibly use a trainer, and the game's native image filters to put yourself, or object into an all white environment. So there are a number of possible solutions to your problem at hand

[SCRIPT] 'Fall Guy' script
Would it be possible to script a mod where every person thinks that someone else - any random pedestrian, I pick off the street is "me" Which is to say, I pick a target, and if I aim a weapon at someone besides that target, they will turn to the target and put their hands up? Idk. Think that would be funny

@Dark0ne You're very welcome. I hope I wasn't a big meanie.

Make the search engine on your website not suck ass
Hi all, I'm really glad the operators of this website are using their valuable time to delete tongue and cheek comments directly related to films that could easily be associated with the mods they're posted on, and not - you know, the ones saying vaguely racist things, or people making casual reference to their enjoyment of watching churches, or the twin towers burn to the ground - but if it's not too much trouble, can you bother, after so many years, to fix the shittiest search engine I have ever seen?
If I type "Zippo," I get all of Zippo Raid's mods. If I type "Raid" I get all of Zippo Raid's mods. If I type "Zippo Raid," I get "no search results" - This is despite the fact that using "raid" will get you search results like "Long Braided Haircut For MP Female" ... okay... is your engine too sensitive or too restricted?
Why wouldn't using the guy's whole name work? It might as well say "I'm sorry, your search was way too specific"
If I type in "The Character Clothes Mod" I get instant results. If I type in "The Character Vehicles Mod" I get nothing. If I type in "The Character Vehicles" I get nothing. If I type "The Character" Then it shows in the results. Just because I naturally added an "s" to the word vehicles, consistent with the other mod your engine functions as though nothing like that search ever existed on this site. One letter, no results.
Maybe there is an indexing problem once in awhile, but the search function simply sucks either way.
I've had instances where no combination of letters or words worked, leading me to believe the mod had been deleted, only for me to discover the link via Google search.
I mean, can you fix this already? If you're not too busy erasing innocuous comments that is. Wouldn't want to interfere with that important work. Thanks for all the hard work I'm sure will be done to resolve this issue...

RE: [SCRIPT] Allow Weapons in some places.
You can already manually equip any single weapon you want in any location using a trainer like menyoo and happily strut around your house, like a gun wielding maniac in front of your family.
Zippo Raid created the mod "Friendly Fire" which comes in handy for Machinimas. Not sure if it allows you to equip your weapon anywhere or not, without a trainer, but it does allow you to blow away anyone, including your wife and daughter (assuming you're Michael). Since the screenshot features Michael pointing a shotgun at Amanda's chest, (in their kitchen) just try that one if you're too lazy to use a trainer every time.

RE: Change Franklin's personal car
@-SPIRIT- You can try it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this mod. It wasn't perfect from the beginning (what ever is?) and it's nearly 3 years old.
I can't remember if it was this one, or the character clothes mod, or both, but yeah, it was pointed out to me that the mod hadn't been updated when I had a problem, so like any mod, try it at your own risk, but with excess caution.
It's a script though, so if it doesn't work as intended you can always remove it, and everything should be fine.

RE: Seriously though.... where the fuck *is* this shit?
@HeySlickThatsMe Yep. This is exactly like the RDR2 shitstorm. They may be the biggest gaming company in the world, but they're not very efficient are they?
-
RE: Seriously though.... where the fuck *is* this shit?
@HeySlickThatsMe Oh okay. I see now. That's kind of a stupid way to save memory, isn't it? Again, if files and textures are just going to repeat, then why didn't they program the game to reuse them as is?
-
RE: Seriously though.... where the fuck *is* this shit?
@HeySlickThatsMe The "cs" in "csb" stands for "cutscene." All of those peds are higher quality.
-
RE: Seriously though.... where the fuck *is* this shit?
@thebegin10 Thanks for the heads up. Can be exported plainly as BMP, don't know how or if altering the file will cause a problem but I am sure I will find out soon.

Seriously though.... where the fuck *is* this shit?
I thought if I couldn't find it I wouldn't care, but that was always a trap. There's a bunch of helmets in the mpsmuggler file, the only textures are for the lenses, repeated, over and over.
The first one looks virtually the same as the others in basic design, and it has the expected textures. I tried replacing those but it doesn't work on all the others.
Why are there so many wasted files in this game anyway. There must be 15000 "versions" of the exact same stripper model in various patches. Grand Theft Auto V without strippers would be 1GB max

RE: Rockstar Editor - A mod to delete camera restrictions
@robp
There is a guy who made a first person cutscene mod, and that same guy recently made a third person cutscene mod, that he says might have the Rockstar Editor enabled in the future. If he can pull that off maybe he'll do your thing too - eventually. I already mentioned it to him. Since it's something I've wanted for awhile now too. I also mentioned that it's probably only restricted due to the limitations of the editor itself being unable to handle the mission's assets in some cases. So if we ever do get it it might not be worth that much, you never know. -
RE: Rockstar Editor - A mod to delete camera restrictions
@robp Ah, I see you found the right one. Good luck finding someone with that kind of coding skill, who's willing to do it.
I never understood why there was no headway on this in the first place. One of the very first features on OpenIV was open camera. Since then the editor itself has gotten no love, except for the now defunct "Extended Video Export"
I'd like for somebody to create a mod or tutorial where you can add music files. It must be possible: Rockstar itself has added countless music to the editor through DLC's. But I was listening to score from one of them, and I was annoyed that none of it was incorporated into the editor. Last time they did anything like that was for Halloween, and they were just ambient tracks and sound effects.

RE: [SCRIPT] Remove Rockstar Editor first person cam limitation
@robp Why would you need first person cam to do this? Think you might be in the wrong thread, homie.

[SCRIPT] Purge "Mini" Game
I had an idea that I could never execute. So I'll float it here and if someone wants to "steal" it they can. Most "purge" scripts revolve around replicating the total chaos of the "riot mode" Grand Theft Auto III cheat, I'm thinking of something a little more GTA-typical at least as far as the controlled chaos of the newer games are concerned.
It's possible, I suppose, that some of this is not possible, but I'm trying to think within the box: relatively close to other mods I've seen on the site. Basically the player goes to minigame icon for the purge. Time is set to make one "24hr" period 3 1/2hrs of play time, starting time = midnight. Police are disabled of course. Gang hideouts pop up across the city, which can be raided for cash. NPC's can be either fleeing or hostile, but gangs are more prevalent across the world map. I also imagine that a system for spawning masked MP models, perhaps also fractured into (possibly unmarked) gangs would be more in line with the films' depictions of the events of the purge as well.
Maybe there are safe zones, (like your own gang hideout) but they can be randomly besieged. Let's also say players can collect limited ammunition, armor and health items here, but only once every 70min. Aside from gang hideouts perhaps you can break into shops (but not things like banks, as they'd be prepped for the purge) and break open cash registers. If the player survives the onslaught for the entire "24hr" period they get to keep their loot.
It's too bad that money is the best incentive I can come up with, but the fun of the idea really is how long could you last with random NPC's trying to kill you for 3 1/2hrs, and whether or not it's possible to make that more fun, and worth the effort. Just a thought, I'm sure it'll stay that way, but it was a fun one to have nonetheless.
