It's been a way too long since I came up with this project until I finally decided to give it a shot and bring some survival experience for the gta players out there that also like the survival genre.

There won't be any closed alpha testing until we make sure the mod is working properly with the basics. Expect bugs and crashes since this is my very first mod for GTA V, but time and patience will make it bigger and more stable.

We want you to take part on this project by submitting any cool stories you can come up with. The best ones will be used as the backstory when the mod is released!

I want to help

-- PLANNED FEATURES --

• Use your online character as survivor

• Scavenge loot around the open world of GTA V

• Find and repair vehicles to travel faster around the map (gas system)

• Functional car trunks to store whatever you want

• Basic needs such as hydration, energy, health...even injuries!

• Player inventory to store weapons, ammo, food...

• Bandits and infected peds that will make your survival experience harder

• Camp in the mountains with a tent or find yourself a shelter in the city (online apartments)

• Dynamic weather and day-night cycle

• Airdrops with supplies

• Permadeath, transforming your character into a zombie and respawning as new character. Go and find your previous infected character and get back your stuff!

• Map drawing of LS and compass

• Quarantine zones (functional gas masks)

• Dog companion (zeds, be afraid of the doge! #muchzombiehunting #souseful)

• Basic crafting recipes

• ...and many more!

@Eddlm First of all, I wanna personally thank you for taking your time in writing such a detailed reply to the topic. I'm flattered you noticed us! Been a big fan of your scripts tbh. Appreciated, mate.

About your concerns:

-Survivors/NPCs: What we have in mind atm is to bring a whole new experience to GTA where you are not the only one hunting survivors/bandits/zombies, but also being hunted. Holdups and bandits trying to steal your loot is also planned, although it's not mentioned in the topic (there are a lot of features we are planning to add to the final version that haven't been revealed yet, we wanna surprise you guys All of them can be found in our Trello ). I'm not a fan of RPGs where you have to find/talk to inactive npcs, standing still there for you to interact with and ask for favors or quests (which is also considered a planned feature), just what you mentioned. But yeah, I like what you are suggesting, random encounters or maybe not that random, you just run into them fighting for the same supplies? Annotated.

-Zombies: We are trying to focus on a complex AI, not just zombies wandering around. We want them to chase down the player and also be hard to kill with melees, so the player has to think about it twice before engaging them. We would like to add quick time events to the experience, but I feel it will be a pain in the ass to implement. Hordes of zombies may be added if they don't have a big impact in performance. I'll write down your suggestion as well. I'd like to see zombies being distracted by a flare, allowing the player to sneak behind them. Or being attracted to nearby gunshots of other survivors as you describe.

Regarding the police and military, it is also planned to add different factions (friendly/hostile) to the world when we have a stable release and make sure the basics are working properly so you can expect that too.

We will definitely consider your ideas. I have already added all of them to the Trello. If you wanna take a peak, you are more than welcome, just text me.

@HenryTux I'm sure you already know of this but there is a mod that turns the peds into zombies. If you want to make then look like zombies that's going to take a lot of time. Also, there are sites you can see how an actual zombie outbreak (or any other epidemic) would spread through the world, use that for a more believable story. Bugs would also turn people into zombies through bites.

As long as the creator of those textures allows us to include them, sure! You shouldn't have any issues with any custom texture mods

@Reyser I definitely agree with your idea! We feel you, "realistic" stealth is something GTA V has been lacking of since the beginning and it's something that needs to be implemented, especially, for an apocalypse where remaining hidden and silent is a must. We take note of it, thanks!

@Cass It IS being developed I cannot provide a release date since we still have a lot of work to do first to make a stable build, but you can expect something close to DayZ SA and some other survival games mechanics. Big fan of both games that's why I decided to work on this project (even knowing it is quite big project for a beginner )

I currently have 3 modders on the team that are helping me a lot to implement some of the ideas you guys are suggesting and those that I also come up with. You can check their profiles in the topic. Take a peek at the Trello to see what's coming up (pretty sure you are a Chernarus veteran, am I right? )

@hrefayi you mean finding other survivors by listening to their radio transmissions? maybe gather intel about air drops and their location? We already have something in mind but yeah, I like it

About the extractions, I take note of that (Added to Trello ). You take the role of someone working for the army/goverment? The Division style? Something along those lines? Could be implemented, yep. Don't expect it to be in the early releases of the mod tho.

@HenryTux Do you plan to propose a full scavenge option going to ammo/food/water etc to thing like Metal / Wood / ciment / etc that could deserve to something if you add a shelther/camp building option to build our own base (I mean some minor thing like garden (to get food supply), infermery (better health) , destructible wall destructible barricade, fence, tower, workshop (to get ammo supply with metal scavenged around the map), bed, Zombie TRAP )

This with a good base defence, that we could manage, and where the difficulty could be set in function of the number of survivor we bring to the base (survivor that we could assign to defence, garden, workshop, etc)

Would just be awsome and give some persistence to zombie mod xS

Attaboy! Cannot wait to see that in-game! hahaha tbh, base building is not a priority although we will consider giving it a shot after the basics are well implemented. Unfortunately, the game engine was not designed for that, but making use of community Map Editor maps will be also recommended. Have in mind that huge bases will have an impact in the performance of the game too. Boomarked

@Think_Tank what's your point? lol it's not like we are in the 60's and this is the Space Race. I do strongly believe that @sollaholla have done a great job with Simple Zombies, that's why I thought it was worth mentioning him in the topic, not messing with his mod, in case you get it twisted.

You are right, I haven't been as active as I would like to, but this is not something I do 24/7. It's my very first project and I'm still learning everyday, so please, go easy on me other modders' experience are always welcomed to make this mod even bigger.

Fivereborn is not planned, but I look forward to making it compatible with GTA Network in the future, because I'd also love to see what this mod can offer with multiplayer experience added.

@HenryTux Silenced weapons still sound super loud. Check the files of Realism Dispatch Enhanced or the Realism mod, they have the realistic behavior and line of site down pat, making it much harder, more realstic, and more stealthy. Also, add the drag dead bodies mod if you see any use for that.

@HenryTux Also the https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/stance mod will yet you crouch and duck, which is much needed here, i think. I'm actually starting a WIP topic, check it out when it's done, if you like.

@jedijosh920 has been doing a great job with those scripts. It's up to him to let us modify/use his code. Otherwise, we will have to figure out a similar way to implement those "animations"

Hell yeah! I don't know why that bad boy is still hidden inside the game files. Definitely, we should spawn it around along with other vehicles. We don't have in mind quests or missions, yet. If the community wants them, we will do our best to make cool missions. Hey! Don't forget @Guazmad 's Mission Creator mod, his awesome work may be handy for what you are asking

Well, mate. We understand that. The good news is, it doesn't matter either you know how to code a mod or not to make it great! The community is also a fundamental pillar in the development of any mod or game! You can help us in other ways (concept art?), and you are more than welcome to do so!
