@Fabito48hd Nothing in particular. I'm just tired of seeing garbage uploaded - poor quality peds, ymaps of existing buildings with a few props added, and so sick of seeing clothing for the MPs - the ugliest peds of any game.

New creators take an existing tshirt, spend 1 minute in MS Paint to add a logo, and upload it as a work of art. Wonderful.

There are plenty of high quality vehicles to download, and likely more to come as they are converted from other games like Forza.

I don't see any new maps unless they are converted from the Trilogy, and if they were this site would not allow them for copyright issues but other sites would.

I would love to see high quality peds - other than DC or Marvel universe - just casual peds, but good looking, properly rigged and textured, facial animations, and options for clothing.

And I can't stand anime and manga characters although I understand they are popular with the very young but also with perverts.

After years of amazing mods like Menyoo, RCA, peds like Alex's Lara Croft, and wonderful ports of maps like Liberty City, are the glory days behind us, gone for good?

All I see today as uploads are inexperienced or incompetent creators forcing their suckage on the community.

Aside from all the unimaginative tshirts and hairstyles for the horrid MP peds, which should have their own category titled Crap, we now have a slew of poorly textured peds without facial animations which at best look like cheap mannequins from a discount store going out of business.

Mods that would not even qualify as pre-alpha are uploaded daily and invariably get a 5 rating from the creator's buddies or someone equally lacking even a modicum of good taste. Let's not even talk about the ped with the purple wings rated a 5 recently uploaded, ooops, i just did.

That was my rant for the day, thanks for reading, i feel much better with that out of the way.

Verdict: Does exactly what it says. Memory gain: 1GB for an 8GB card (12.5% increase). Individual Results may vary.

Impact on FPS: slight gain but not statistically significant as FPS changes during game play even for same location.

But don't install this on a chromebook or the original IBM PC and expect miracles. Your game could stutter or crash. Author recommends decent rig with 8GB of VRAM or better. Note: as confirmed by the author, this mod will not replace gameconfig.xml, heap limit adjuster, or packfile limit adjuster. Those are retained. It works by increasing the VRAM budget limit that Rockstar imposed on GTA5.

Rockstar didn't put a VRAM (GPU memory) limit to piss us off. Rather, they did it for game stability. That was back in 2015, hardware is more powerful today and GPUs have more memory.

Essentially, this asi script allows GTA5 to use more of your GPU's VRAM than the default game does, assuming you have excess in the first place. However this definitely doesn't grant you a free pass to go crazy. Push the game too far with excessive mods and it will crash on you.

Slow but steady wins the race.

Here is the TLDR in 9 steps. Assumes you have SH5 updated.

1. Update your gameconfig.xml. There are 751 versions in the most popular one, so select the right one (see below).

2. Backup your existing dlclist.xml and any customized files using OpenIV.

3. Copy the new update.rpf and update2.rpf from your GTA5 Update folder to your Mods Update folder. Backup your mod versions first.

4. Now restore the entries for your dlc addons in your dlclist.xml, carefully. Post here if unsure how to do this.

5. Disable all your mods by renaming dinput8.dll (in your game/root folder) to dinput8.bak and start your game. If your game doesn't load, or if it crashes, contact Rockstar Support because your problem has nothing to do with mods.

6. If your game runs properly in Vanilla, unmodded, then as the next step follow the steps in this guide. After following all the steps in that guide, without skipping any, move to the next steps:

7. If you found a problem with an asi mod in your game/root folder, disable it by moving it out or renaming it without the .asi extension, post your issue here or contact the author.

8. If you found a problem with your scripts folder, reinstall your scripts one by one until you find the issue or issues. Scripts can conflict with the update or be outdated because of changes in the update.

9. If you found a problem with your mods folder, reinstall your mods one by one until you find the issue or issues. Remember that peds and vehicles can conflict with each other, whether mods or R* game dlc.

Optional step: The steps above pertain to your mods only. However it's also possible that the new DLC is conflicting with existing addon mods. In this case you can simply remove the new dlc entries from dlclist.xml and see if that solves your problems. Remove the 2 lines below, permanently or temporarily. There are 2 new Christmas ones as well which can be disabled if all else fails. Some users claim it worked for them.

An excellent one is linked below. For new users: it is hidden under MISC rather than TOOLS and is described as gameconfig rather than gameconfig.xml, so you may have missed it.

As written above, the author prefers the more is more approach, so provides you with an excellent selection of 751 files, all neatly organized.

Start with one in the Gta Config v30 for v 1.0.2802 folder.
For More Mods\Stock Traffic (Means Gta base) for the sake of stability. You can change it later.

John, You're Crazy!
Ok, if you have 100s or 1000s of addons and scripts, you may not want to reinstall one by one. In that case there are other methods. For example, remove half and test. If you have a problem you know you have an issue in that half, so take those and halve them again. Rinse and Repeat.

This method, while much faster, doesn't work for everything because the second half in your initial pass may also have issues. Or a mod from Half 1 could conflict with a mod from Half 2. Agreed? So a combination of methods might work best for you. If you're a new user, with just a few mods and scripts, definitely go one by one.

Summary
After the update, can someone on these forums fix your broken game with 100% certainty? Nobody here will be able to fix your game remotely for you. They can help you fix it, but only if you follow their advice to the letter, without skipping steps.

Some users are lucky and have their game up and running after a patch simply by updating SH5 and their gameconfig.xml. Why do their games work while yours, despite having updated the 2 files/mods above?

The answer is simple. Your setup is unique. You have different hardware, different versions of GTA5, and most importantly you have different mods, configured differently.

The simple steps I listed above will work for the majority of you. For the more challenging problems you will need to educate yourself to better understand how all the different modding puzzle parts work together to eventually find a specific solution to your specific problem.

Troubleshoot systematically, with laser focus. Shotgun approach is not recommended, particularly for new users.

I'm working on some new outfits. They're pretty damn good. Should I upload them and let the whole community benefit or should I try to sell them on Patreon? I was thinking $150 each? These are Menyoo settings, but I worked at least 40 hours on each one. Lots of sweating and coffee. I mean art is art right?

I'm also working on what modders call a "better" version of a mod that was uploaded on this site. I don't remember the creator but don't worry I won't upload anything without his permission. I'm new to 3ds Max but as you can see the facial results look promising. Maybe I can release this as a beta? I'll contact the creator first of course.

I can't stop thinking of Alexander Blade's recent post, in the midst of a horrible invasion, still dedicated to updating SH5, and not asking for monetary relief for himself, family, or country. The only thing he asked for is someone to help upload files because his internet was disrupted.

I don't know Alexander Blade, i can see however on his blog and the SH5 page, that if there are any requests for donations they are not obvious.

Most importantly he has never held the community hostage by asking for payment, nor has he exploited the horrible circumstances he is facing presently to ask for financial assistance.

It would be so easy for him to walk away from this without any guilt, yet he gave the community an update not long after the R* patch.

That's being community minded.

@Fabito48hd personally im totally against paying for mods because it violates the principles of community and the concept of the free internet.

What would come next? Pay a forum member to help solve an installation problem or help with a scripting question? The members who help here give their time freely and willingly, and their time is just as valuable as those who ask for money in return for converting or creating mods.

@Max20452a I would contact Rockstar support, open a ticket with them, they will help you for sure.

The AddonPeds mod by Meth0d was definitely better than nothing when it came out in 2017, but it is outdated and the ped selector was always buggy asF.

Recently someone posted a superior mod, but it is much too complicated for new users. They will quickly get lost in the process. Not to mention the way the peds.meta is formatted, you would end up with a thousand pages of text easily - a nightmare to update and edit.

So what's the alternative?

Well there's a best kept secret that was never really publicized by the author @ReNNie, in fact he never uploaded it on this site. Instead you can find it at:

Is this the best way to add peds? No contest, nothing is easier or more flexible and expandable. And the best part, in my opinion, is you can group your peds in categories of your choice by using multiple rpfs.

How quickly can you add a ped with props? Just watch. I took my time in the video, I can do it in 10 seconds or less. Best thing is you can add 100,000 peds and just keep adding rpfs to keep their size under say 4GB. You can name each file whatever you want. Men.rpf, Army.rpf, Toon.rpf, etc.

TL;DR:

Backup 1 file: GTA5.exe, (GTAVLauncher.exe, PlayGTAV.exe optionally) from the game/installation folder, and definitely keep a backup of Update.rpf (from Mods folder, not game).

The first 3 files listed will get overwritten by each update but nothing from your mods folder or scripts or mods in the installation folder will be affected.

Optional, but highly recommended: backup ScriptHookV.dll. This is the file you will be using as you wait, so it's not necessary for now. However after SH is updated, when you have updated to the new DLC, it will allow you to revert back - if you don't like the update or it causes problems for you. That's it, that's all you really need to do.

The updated versions of SH5 should support older versions of GTA5 through backwards compatibility but better to play it safe given there is no guarantee. For example older scripts could break given native functions may be changed by Rockstar.

IMPORTANT: You don't need to backup vanilla game files if you're using a mods folder. You can keep all updated files except GTA5.exe while waiting. Similarly if you want to stay reverted you can keep all the updated files once more. Only file you need for a downgrade is GTA5.exe.

The Long and Short
The rest of this post is for those who are curious or to fill in some information gaps. For example, at the recent tuner update it seems only GTA5.exe was required from the .exe files, but who knows how the next update will behave - better play safe and back them all up. Note that the update will not overwrite any of your own files such as ScriptHookV.dll. In fact, it won't overwrite any modded files unless you modded game files directly - but it's good practice to backup your mod files as well, particularly Update.rpf from Mods folder.

R* doesn't give a damn about SP but they still provide DLC for GTAO. Every time they do, it potentially breaks modded games. Generally the fix is just a Scripthook update, but lately it has also caused other issues leading to crashes and requiring changes to gameconfig.xml files.

@WGotch07 has given us a warning that another update is coming. This is what I suggest you do to prepare for the next update. This process is just to allow you to continue playing in SP (Sandbox, free roam, etc) while waiting for AB (Alexander Blade) to update SH. Remember to update SH from official site only.

The good news: An update will not make any changes to any mod files anywhere - as long as you used a mods folder. None of the mod files (scripts, asi, dll, etc) in other folders will be impacted. So nothing lost unless you screw up, for example if you installed in game folders.

1. BACKUP
Make backup copies of GTA5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe, and PlayGTAV.exe. These files are in the root folder of your game. From the last update, I found only GTA5.exe was needed, but better to err on the safe side and backup more than less - these files are small and easy to backup.

Also backup, from your MODS folder, the file called update.rpf. I'm assuming here you were wise enough NOT to make changes directly to your games folder. You can also backup the update.rpf from your game folder but that's optional and not necessary.

That's it, that's all you need to backup. Now what? This is the Steam process, it should be similar for other versions except for some launchers continually trying to update.

2. REVERT TO PREVIOUS GTA5
After the game updates, you need to copy the 3 .exe files back to your GTA5 root folder to overwrite the new ones. That's all you need to do.
Now here's the fun part, if you go in OpenIV you will get this alert box saying your update.rpf is outdated. This is why we backed up update.rpf because it contains your dlclist.xml and other user customized files. You don't need to do what OpenIV says. In fact you don't want to, not until the new SHV is released, and remember that you need to keep your old update.rpf because it contains files you will need later. If you let OpenIV replace update.rpf you lose your dlclist.xml and gameconfig.xml, etc.

Each update is different so WATCH THIS THREAD FOR ADVICE AFTER THE UPDATE. This will include updating the .exe files and adding the new SH etc.

3. UPDATE TO NEW GTA5 WITH NEW SH5
Once the new version of ScriptHook is available here is what you might want to do.

First rename dinput8.dll and see if game loads properly and is stable. This will disable all mods, trainers, scripts etc. Don't delete it, just rename it.

If your game loads you know it is Mod related. If it doesn't load you need to do a verify integrity. This might sound as an extra step, but it's like checking if the toaster is plugged in - although we can be pretty sure the update broke your game.

Ok, so your game now loads. You now have to rename dinput8.dll to its original name.

Next step is to rename your mods folder (assuming you are using one) so that only asi files like your trainer load. If you are using a scripts folder you might want to rename it as well. Again, don't delete, just rename.

If this works you are now confident it is an addon or replace (unless you have a corrupt save game file, which is unlikely).

Next step would be to slowly move mods (not delete, not uninstall, just move) out of your mods folder. Cut and paste to a temp folder.
You don't need to touch dlclist.

If it doesn't work keep removing mods one by one or in small groups. If it does work, then starting adding back mods slowly. See if you can identify one or more specific mods which either cause the crash. Or it could be you have too many mods for your system to handle, even with an updated gameconfig, heap, pack, etc.

P.S. You shouldn't have to reinstall most or any addons if you are using a mods folder after an update. That's the whole purpose of a mods folder. Generally speaking you just need to update your gameconfig, dlclist, and any other user edited files from that folder. If you kept a backup of the mods update.rpf that would be best to restore it.

Yes we will, but remember that GTA6, will reflect the societal norms of 202x, not those of 2013 and 2015.

In other words, no drugs, no killing, no violence (particularly against women). In fact women will be invincible.

Whores will be replaced by female University teachers that look like Hillary Clinton, the death penalty will be the punishment for stealing a car or violence towards animals.

Automatic rifles and gas powered cars will be banned, as will all CO2 emissions. Cows will no longer fart.

Mods will be allowed but need to go through a morality and ethics panel, if not, Rockstar will fine the author and website.

Swearing will be limited to words and expressions such as: golly, heck, and what the fudge, but not allowed on GTAO.

There will be more than 3 protagonists, one from each major religion and ethnicity, one from each group in LGBTQIA+, at least one with a physical handicap and at least 2 with autism or ADHD.

Praying will be added as an animation, with variations for Christians, Muslims, etc.

The MP female will be completely redesigned to be even uglier and, as long requested by her clothing mod fans, will have a slot for male genitalia as default. Rockstar will allow thankfully for "better" mod retextures.

Finally the Jesus character on the Pier will be replaced with actual historic religious leaders and prophets, at random, from all major regions including the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

In light of what happened with the QuantV trojan mod, users should start to be very cautious regarding the mods they install.

I'm not a programmer nor a creator, but it took me less than a minute to create an OIV that destroyed my game. I will never be able to play again. Ok, jk about that part, but the danger is real.

Please watch on Youtube, fullscreen, at highest resolution so you don't miss anything. And stop using OIV installers unless you know how to unzip them and peek inside.

Not to make people paranoid, but this is a good time to remind people that script mods (dlls) and in particular asi plugins (can't be decompiled, well not easily) can be extremely dangerous, even more than OIV installers - as we saw with the QuantV trojan which wiped disks. And ofc, same precautions with executable files.

Keep in mind that your anti-virus will not catch customized malware. Also, the most devious authors will set a future date to trigger the malware code. This ensures that hundreds or thousands of users install the scripts giving the users the false impression it must be safe because its use is widespread and nobody has reported it - even when the scripts are not recent or even very old.

I never use OIVs (except the ones I create for personal updates). If a mod has an OIV installer, I unzip it and manually do the install.
Similary I rarely install scripts. If i do, I decompile it first and check the code.

Most important tip: Backup your files, preferably on external drives that can be removed from a home network.

Would recommend you open a free account with Steam and purchase the game here. Steam version of game has advantages when updates cause problems with modded games.

The Steam page will give you the recommended requirements for your hardware. You want to ideally exceed those, particularly if you will mod. Generally speaking, you want a powerful PC for gaming even though this game is old. The more mods you install, the more complex and large the mods, the more you will need good CPU, GPU, SSDs, and memory.

Once you have your game purchased and installed, then come back for modding help. You should ensure your game works well before you start installing mods.
