@Brandoman using openiv, right click on the gxt2 file you want to edit,---> export to open format.
You will then get a global.oxt with normal characters inside

It should be OK if you make no mistake in Any file(carcols, carvariations, vehicles, handling, vehiclelayouts...).
Sometimes it s a bit tricky to find the good files location, because of updates you can have many of these files refering to the car you try to replace.
Now I am curious, aren t you experiencing a lot of crashes having replaced so many vehicles ? -

ok, well problem solved;
I have a "scripts"folder in my gtav root directory and one that I called "Vscripts", to be able to remove or reinstall scripts faster.
That was a bad Idea, my "Scripts" folder was empty, so no scripts were functional, but I had some in my "VScripts" folder,, and that was giving me these crashes.
once "VScripts" folder empty, and scripts back in "Scripts" folder, no more crashes changing character and all scripts working fine.Sorry for my stupidity and this almost useless topic

game crashes in specific situations
Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to read this
I realized that my game crashes extremely often when I change character to michael or Franklin, and almost only in that case, especially if one of them is in his car (replaced).
I have no crashes using their car as long as I don't change character, and this doesn' t happen when I change to Trevor, whose default car is also replaced.
I have only have something like a dozen replacer and a dozen add-ons, last gameconfig for unlimited add-ons.
These crashes make me sick, I ll give all my everlasting gratefullness plus20 euros to the one who has a fix for that...Thank you all

do you have a modified gameconfig.xml for addons for the game version u' re using? if not check that first.

Hi, I seem to encounter the same problem you have had ("tuning parts showed up in LSCustom /trainer, but when i apply it, It's disappearing car's body") , so I' m really interested in your trick to fix it if you' d please agree to share it... -

@Whats-a-Username- first of all, thanks a lot for replying.
I actually did that, using 252 for modkit id, it seems it' s the only one i could use in this carcols.ymt, before that i could not even upgrade my engine, now I can, and i even can try to change parts, but it just don't show and even makes the original textures it should replace disappear.
It's like the tuning parts would be registered but not loaded. -

i m trying replace a bike that has originally no tuning parts (the carbon rs) with one that has.
I followed Reyser' s replacer tutorial, the bike spawns correctly, but i' m unable to make tuning parts to work, even the statmods (engine, brakes...),
i tryied a few modkit id's supposed to be free but it won t work,
any idea please??
well, now i got statmods update working, but tuning parts aren' t showing, if i change the value for chassis with a trainer, the chassis just disappear, i' m kind of lost here, I tried so many things... -

Awesome tutorial, really, works great.
There 's just something I don' t understand how to do...
I'd like to replace a bike that has no tuning parts with one that has,
for instance the carbon rs with imtaj' s awesome gsxr 1000 tunable.
I'm pretty sure it should be possible, but I don' t find what is linked to this carbon rs in any carcols file.
Any idea please ?
