The actual kit ID doesn't matter, and the name doesn't need to contain the kit ID. You can make the <kitName>
e.g. my_modkit_whatever
and it doesn't need to have a number in it at all. So just edit the <id value="whatever">
to an available modkit if you have a conflict.

Mod kit ID registry to avoid conflicts
Hello all,
I have created a mod kit ID registry so people can register which modkit IDs they are using for mods they plan to release publicly, to avoid accidentally using a modkit ID already in use by another mod. This will make it easier for modders to make sure their mods are widely compatible, and less likely to create support requests from users.
The registry is available here, and can be publicly edited at the moment: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/154RLDnK35cNUPZrIiEep5ymy9UlQ-jpsx1XJxiJ9-Qw/edit?usp=sharing
Please feel free to add mod kit IDs you are using, or that you know are in use by mods you've downloaded. If someone wanted to go through some of the more popular released mods that use modkits and add them in, that would be a great help.
Obviously this is an entirely voluntary effort for modders to all make life easier for each other. Nobody's going to come after you or fight over IDs, I just want to make things go smoother

RE: Bullet proof vests
Already possible, Just use a trainer to set the component you want on a ped that has a bullet proof vest component, and set the armor level to max.

RE: [Vehicle] Request for AgustaWestland AW139 - have a model
Finally!
Request fulfilled after only 1 year!
-
RE: VehicleModelSets being weird
There is a limit of 256 entries in vehiclemodelsets.meta. It sounds like you're over that limit, which will cause it to pick the wrong entry sometimes.

RE: why is a 4 month old mod on the featured list, again?
@Unknown-Modder I suppose the issue people have is that the description explains what it literally does, but not what that means to the average non-technical user. Which is a fair criticism of the description I suppose.
-
RE: why is a 4 month old mod on the featured list, again?
Because the mod is extremely useful and not well known. I agree that the author of the mod isn't doing a good job of engaging with the community about it, but it isn't featured as an honor or benefit to the mod creator, it's featured for the benefit to the community of being aware of what the mod does.

RE: Presidential Command Post (Request)
@Blocks925 just replace the texture with an all black texture. Bam, done!

RE: Collison boat or ship [COL]
Yeah it's pretty annoying that flags are just there tantalizing us but boat collisions don't work. Oleg did acknowledge the issue finally and said he'll look into it. Hopefully we'll get a fix soon.

RE: Collison boat or ship [COL]
We are all having this problem right now. The only solution is for Oleg to fix zmodeler, or to keep using 3.1.5 in the meantime.

RE: [Vehicle] Request for AgustaWestland AW139 - have a model
@SkylineGTRFreak has a good AW-139 model from FSX that he's working on converting. Last update I heard, the interior has some things that are making it difficult to convert over to GTA, but it's still being worked on and should be done eventually.

RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@FoxtrotDelta alright, as long as you sent it to him unlocked then I can do that. I sent @DOGBAIT a PM about it.
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@FoxtrotDelta interesting. Well the heli taxi script works on any heli with wheels, so it'll be compatible should a wheeled variant ever be released!
It looks like dogbait is OK with you sending the model - whenever you'd like, PM it to me via Discord and I'll send it back with the adjustments. I haven't seen the interior from your screenshots but I may even be able to add a stretcher that peds can lay on.
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@DOGBAIT taxi mod will be released later this week, so stay tuned for that. Of course it won't work on the Bell 412 since ya know it doesn't have wheels.
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@FoxtrotDelta personally I think ELS on a helicopter is likely to cause issues, and regular helicopter lighting should be easily achievable without ELS. I suppose it's possible, but I'm not sure what you might want to do via ELS that can't be done natively? ELS in my experience has quite a few bugs and performance impacts which make it unsuitable for use on aircraft.
@DOGBAIT I'll check out those vids if I get some time. I've actually done some research on Westpac recently for my development of Coastal Callouts. You might enjoy this recent video from Aussie youtuber Sergeant Anderson using a Westpac rescue helicopter with Coastal Callouts:
@DOGBAIT if you're OK with Foxtrot sending me the model and letting me make some seat adjustments I can make the 412 model here compatible with Coastal Callouts so it could be used for missions like that.
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@DOGBAIT if you'd like I can add additional seats with a custom layout. Can have a ped sit out the side door, laying down inside, etc.
@FoxtrotDelta does it have LODs?
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@DOGBAIT were you keen on a particular agency or country with it?
@FoxtrotDelta does the model have, or could you add, a rescue hoist?

RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@DarthPungz the way I see it is, I don't want to waste people's time by requesting something and then having 2 people duplicate the effort if they're both earnestly working on it. But a lot of people say they'll do it, and then it turns out that they have other priorities or life happens or whatever. Which is 100% fine and normal, but rarely do they get a chance or take the time to let people know when they've deprioritized something... so you never really know until you see some kind of indication that somebody is actually working on something.
if somebody's fired up about having a helicopter or civilian aircraft model and they've got the money to pay somebody to make it I think it's silly to not allow someone to make it because someone has made a claim to a particular vehicle...
I'm certainly not suggesting that anyone shouldn't be allowed to make anything! I've been personally trying to get an AW-139 model for nearly a year, which is why I commented, because I've already talked to many people about that specific model. I'll be quite happy if somebody releases a quality conversion of it, whoever that may be.
@FoxtrotDelta I agree, Skyline's working on it, so it's gonna be great, but he's busy these days so we just need to be patient.
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@FoxtrotDelta well about 5 different people have claimed they were going to work on it but never produced so much as a screenshot to indicate they were actually making any progress, hence why I've asked about everyone who does heli models if they were interested in it. But yeah, Skyline recently agreed to work on it and we actually found a newer model than the original FSX Icaro model I had previously requested on the forums. I'm not sure how far along he is, but I do know he checked the model, said it looks good, and plans to fully convert it.
AFAIK nobody is working on a Bell 412 model though, so if @DOGBAIT has a good model for that, it would be a good one to pursue. Also I'm still eager for that C-27J and am still happy to make a donation when that gets off the ground
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
@DOGBAIT not currently, but I will post an update to this thread when it is!
-
RE: VEHICLE] Helicopter. Will $$$$
Somebody is already working on converting the 2017 FSX AW-139 model. I'm sure they'd appreciate a donation once it's released! I haven't yet seen anyone working on a Bell 412 though.

[SCRIPT] [Released] Helicopter/VTOL Runway Taxi Plugin
So we've got all these awesome helicopter models on gta5-mods, and many of them have wheels (as real helicopters often do). Unfortunately, GTA doesn't have any way built in to actually use those wheels though. This is a problem if you want to park your helicopter in a hangar, or if you want to taxi it around realistically. VTOL aircraft have a similar problem: they only have two positions (up or down), and in the up position they can't taxi either.
My new Heli Taxi plugin solves all of these issues by making it possible to taxi wheeled helicopters and VTOL aircraft. It also adds customizable additional angles to VTOL aircraft so you can choose a partial tilt. It uses normal helicopter controls and doesn't require any additional keybindings. It will work automatically with any helicopter that has wheels and any VTOL aircraft. You can optionally override settings for specific models by adding a configuration file for that model.
I started developing the plugin last week, and just released a beta version to members of my early access program. After I get some beta feedback and incorporate any necessary changes, I will be releasing it here on gta5-mods.com for you all to enjoy!
Special thanks to @SkylineGTRFreak for creating all of the excellent aircraft that I tested/developed this mod with and which are featured in the demo video below, and thanks for @DarthPungz for suggesting that I add support for VTOL aircraft. And a big thank-you to everyone who is a member of the Parks Benefactor Program for generously donating to support my development projects.
