@eshenk Is simple, is a game, mean for entertaiment. GTA V is based in a cartoonished style, just see the peds, the proportions, the vehicles, the world variations, etc. Everything is just a big scenary for a parody about social problematics in the world. For real life simulators, nothing is so real like open the door and take a passage along the cities.

Now, why do mods unrealistic, fantastic or surreal? For the same reasson to see a movie, read a book, listen an history in a song, we need the experience of no possible things, see them at least. The real life can be tragic and bored, but in videogames you can have a Maserati in your garage or fly or use anormal clothes, etc lots of options in a trainer to modify your virtual life and not following the wishes of game developers (you know, GTA V single player mode is a boring experience without mods, totally abandoned by developers). Mod means modifications, you can personalize your game, but no all people wants to live a photorealistic gaming experience to take a bus, go to job and return to home in a videogame.

Map tools are pretty necessary, no matters if are not complete. Nobody has the entire GTA V source code (anyone that say yes, is a liar) to get the full map development with all features in props, animations, etc. Sollahola map tool, Code Walker and the others are useful today, works fine and sure, will to support new features, but the main tool and Biggest Mod Ever Is OpenIV and there is a tragic bottleneck in the development... (coff! T2! coff!).

@Frazzlee LOD models is not for fun, is a necessity for a game, including the modding. Is question of offering quality and things well done without affect the gamming experience (all we are gammers and dislike the lags and models vanishing in distance). Build a LOD is simple, search tutorials about and exists too free software to do that for us.
Not having time is not an excuse, it's just the pretext for not learn and put more effort into something.

@dionys19 GTA games only are difficult if we didn't mods for them before. If yes, we learned the essentials and an intuitive way to continue modding in the next GTA game.

Peds rigging continues at same difficulty (just is important the polycount and level complexity in shape to know the difficulty), shaders knowledge is new requirement for GTAV to put proper materials look (like traditional gray specular map not works like in the big percentage of other games, in GTA V materials are layered shaders by colors stored in specular maps), but can be learned researching vanilla peds values and textures patterns, same happens with ymt ped metadata. Vertex colors and LODs knowledge is essential for any model in any game, but LODs can be ignored as you want.

Vehicles rigging is more easy than GTA IV, not requires too much submeshes, values and components in hierarchy, the game engine can recognize vehicle properties and fill empty values automatically. Materials keeps traditional required skills and just flags knowledge can be a issue but researching in vanilla files can be acquired, same way for vertex colors for burn FX and deformable zones. Metadata edit can be tangled up for those who do not have patience or not understand well the vehicle's behavior in game, but can be learned taking note and doing tests without major difficulty. The tool knowledge is essential and Zmodeler keeps its confusing UI, but nothing impossible to learn about how to use it looking tutorials.

Map modding in GTA V can be more complex than before, with features like the layered materials used by vertex colors painting, there is required shaders knowledge or patience doing tests to get results and apply own settings. Just the tools not are plenty optimized and with all game map features working like in GTA IV or San Andreas, but actually are near to reach that goal.

Props and weapons continues in same difficulty, just the new material shaders can be difficult but can be learned researching vanilla models.

GTA San Andreas is a simple game engine, wihout major complexity in shaders and file settings and could be favorite for it by modding community.

The answer is simple: the community keeps creating mods, but the number of mods never seen before is very small. Poor innovation = less interest.

In tastes, GTA V is like a sandbox favorite to emulate real stuff (vehicles, weapons, ambient enhancements, clothes, props, etc), but that ends in a boring experience when always appears models from other games, models from real stuff and a ordinary city.
Is like a member said years ago: "Modding is boring when your game gets the behavior of your real life".

Personally, I think GTA V has a huge potential for modifications and gameplay (mainly limited by graphics FX not so easy to create new and unavaible custom animations), but people interested in explore this potential are just few and others pretty skilled abandoned the community. GTA IV has more customization level but there, happened the same thing, people interested in innovation were very few. The exception is GTA San Andreas, there creative people are a lot and innovation is maintained at a high level, that happens because the game has more interests range than just thug life or war or luxury tastes.

Yeah, leec202 is a wise man who was pissed off by some noobs here without offer to him respect and no anxious pressure at least to knowledgeable people. Great modders left this site for the same reason, but wherever they are, they are remembered and we always wait for their return.

@messi3194 You're wrong, 3ds Max + GIMS works perfect with the only issue on lips rig (Open Formats only uses a maximum of 2 variables in vertex shader setting to export each rigged vertex, causing deformations and inaccurate rigging in small zones affected by multiple bones like lips), is 3 times more advanced than ZM3 and has a complete material library for thousands of effects.

@llLyn issue is other (in head component, check if Gims Model modifier has marked "Include bones", that is necessary to work in game, also, copy the CRC number from other head component. All others ped components always uses -1 and not included bones).

@PuppiesLover Software used for animations creation is not the same that animation file exported to native formats for GTA V game and its internal scripting control flags, there is the bridge that must cross by the modding tools developers. Import/Export plugin and proper animations storage format management is the real goal.

@3l_d3v10u5 Is easier just create add-on props planes (and can be a collection of different textures) with the graffiti texture with alpha channel, attach to the surface's normal where is used the spray and play with its alpha value to make it appears (a DB can be created to load already done graffitis) . The spray-can can be a prop with some player animations and a coloured smoke effect. The only complex part, is to create an attach grafitti system to center automatically the prop center to the wall and not allow the painting until the player is in a centered position in front of the wall, that can be checked with some raycasts (I could do this but no free time now).

@BeckhamJR Is not a bug, if the player die and is spawned in any hospital in a model different to main player models, the game crashes. For that the skin is restored, not a bug. Use a trainer with prefered skin saved to be spawned easily, like in Eanhanced Native Trainer or Menyoo.

@westcoastsosa Execessive 4K textures. Each 4K texture uses 48 MB in memory to be rendered each frame. Same principle for each model when are high polycount, overburden the VRAM.
