"In the year or so I've been here I may have rated a mod badly 3 or 4 times max. The last time I did, because the anatomy of a pose was physically impossible my rating was quickly removed without a message to that effect."
We only leave a message when it's strictly necessary and depending on the situation, not before. Sometimes is not necessary and is better to don't leave any. Nothing is black or white in life and that life fact applies to this site moderation aswell.
"The added bonus of giving a low rating, with or without constructive criticism as judged subjectively, is that you will be flamed and insulted by the author, his friends, supporters, and similarly minded individuals."
Whoever insults other users/creators gets moderated no matter what. The rules are there to be respected and the moderators to enforce them and that's what we do.
"The biggest irony is that 5 star ratings are never removed, don't need to be justified. Doesn't make any sense. I think we agree that the 5 rating is abused, it means perfection to or close to that."
Saying that are never removed is completely false. You obviously don't see/notice it but sometimes we do remove them for multiple reasons and which the most common ones usually are that an user used a secondary account to rate his own mod 5 stars or the comment which contains the 5 stars rating is also a rude comment towards other users.
It makes totally sense to don't remove 5 stars ratings even if they don't include constructive feedback. If you rate 5
a mod is because either you like everything on it or whatever you dislike of it is not relevant for you as to rate it lower. For 5
ratings providing constructive feedback is optional because none of us can't know if you liked everything or disliked something unless you say it. The difference between this an lower ratings is that for lower ratings supposedly you have a reason/motivation to provide less than 5 stars. If you don't have a reason to rate it lower, why would you rate it lower or why would you even rate it at all then?
It's common sense and logic, nothing else.
Lastly, I believe I can talk in name of my other teammates (moderators) in general and some site users when I ask you to please stop criticizing the way ratings and comments are being dealt with on the site by us (and yes, I know you didn't start talking about ratings in here yourself first but that doesn't matter as far as you've continued the discussion). At least don't do it in a topic you did create and that has nothing to do with ratings or comments but mod uploads content quality, etc.
If you want to create a new topic about ratings good but stop derailing your topics to that matter unnecessarily.
