So I was going to leave it there and go to sleep, but I really wanted to get the lights working, so...
Running lights don't work yet, just the actual headlights. Running lights will be easy but that's for another day.
Started work on this today, since it was a convert from GTA 4 it's been a very quick and easy one. I thought I'd convert this one since as far as I'm aware we don't already have one for GTA 5.
Right now it's just missing plates, breakable glass, dials, and the steering wheel doesn't meet the driver's hands. I also haven't tried to get permission yet so hopefully everything will work out with that.
I'm posting it here anyway because I need an opinion and some info, though. First of all, these wheels look too small to me, but that's the way they were on the model. Are they right or are they too small?
Second - and this is a problem that plagues a lot of cars I've seen - how do I stop the interior glass from reflecting as strongly as outside?
The windows only have one "layer" of polygons so it's not like I can have separate materials on the inside versus the outside. Motion blur is also strongly distorted by the more reflective glass.
If anyone could take the time to comment on these two things I'd appreciate it.
As soon as this was announced in the Assetto Corsa Porsche pack I wanted to put it into GTA. I'm busier lately than I was when making the Audi S1, so this will probably be a slow burner. If/when I get this done I'll probably do the 911 Carrera S since it's a facelifted model of the 991, something we don't have yet as a GTA mod. From there I'll probably do other road cars depending on what I feel like doing and if I ever get any of them done.
I've done the initial work tonight of importing the model and grouping/separating parts, it's ready to begin being GTA-fied with materials and appropriately named parts:
One little thing to note, the 718 Cayman actually has a four cylinder engine as opposed to the usual Porsche flat 6. Because of this it won't be using the Comet sounds, most likely the Schwarzer ones since those sound like a deep straight 4 like the real thing. Just a little warning for those who think I gave it the wrong sounds on release
It still looks as bad as ever to be honest. VisualV with no contrast-ruining Reshade is the way to go for natural colours.
@tk0wnz I just created a copy of the dials object, dismissed the compound, then dragged the model on as an L1 of the original Dials object. It still worked the same way and it looks fine in game. Thanks for the help though, that finally fixed it.
I'm not sure how the system works on the backend, but is it possible to receive notifications when a mod I've liked or rated is updated? It'd give me more incentive to come back and rate mods and it's just a nice little quality of life thing.
Very nice, I love the R31.
A little request if possible - could you make the splitter and spoiler available as extras or tuning parts? I dunno what the name of the spoiler is but I know the splitter is detached as something like "bumperF_custom_a".
@ChOcOsKiZo I don't know what specifically made it work but I can list the things he told me:
Hopefully those help for anyone having similar issues.
The main strange problem I have now is that the exterior camera is far too high, dunno if it's something that's misplaced or what, I'm just using the Blista .meta details.
@Alekseyys Thanks, that's good to know. I need to fix a couple of material things (the yellow you see around the windows on the first pic) and the position/size of tuning wheels and it should be good to go.
The windows are all set up to be breakable, I just need to find a similar enough GTA car to borrow the crash data from, probably the Schafter or Felon.
Also, @rappo just curious, if a mod author doesn't explicitly say "you need my permission to modify/convert", is it safe just to upload it, then if I'm contacted just remove it? I prefer to play it safe with permission stuff.
Glad Assetto Corsa included this car as part of DLC, especially since I can convert it to GTA.
Been working on assigning materials and splitting/attaching parts so far. Tomorrow I'll probably work on dummies and hierarchy and some other tweaks like giving it US plates.
@nathanjamesddg151 Oops, forgot that post was in this thread.
Also, cars over 500,000 definitely work. The Bentley Mulsanne mod that came out recently-ish is 780,000 and works just fine.
