The problem does not lie within your opinion but in a way you present it. Which, excuse me, sounds very authoritarian and hostile.

EDIT: By the way I can, sort of, relate now because I stumbled upon an incomplete version of a mod. The author came back to me and suggested I try a "new" version of this mod dated April 2018...

It has same problems and is even more dull than the original...

Complaints are valid if someone is active as a modder but keeps marketing same old, same old as "recent" mod versions... In that case, I understand a criticism.

I suggest adding a new word to the English dictionary:

I agree with you to a level. For one thing, I continue to use VisualV finding NVR to complex compared to the added value.

But in all honesty, every graphics mod is, in a great part, just that - a recolor. Making lights, ambient occlusion and light propagation more realistic than Cockstar did.

There are however many additional and rather unwelcome visual effects that these mods attempt to remove. Like, for instance, chromatic aberration which Gods know why Cockstar has put in the game.

Composition mistakes and surreality - this is what you get when you witness a product of people who spend their lives enclosed in a greedy company that doesn't let them experience the outside world and take some actual pictures of how things work in nature. This is why we need graphics mods.

Guys, I think one thing is certain - we are at war. Again...

In the past, Fake Poo Entertainment and Cockstar Games failed at their attempt to close down Open IV. They lost this war.

Now, however, they are fighting a proxy-war. The new updates and the latest launcher are their proxies.

If we are to win this second war, we need something more than just a launcher bypass.

We need both a launcher bypass AND an UPDATE BYPASS so that we can block Cockstar's updates once and for all! Once we have that, we will have our game copies work in any version that we please. No more mandatory crap - this should be the current course for this community and, as a matter of fact, our battlecry.

I don't know the first thing about programming. But I can tell you one thing - I will always support this community in any possible way I can and in any capacity I am able to!

So, dear community, admins, programmers, gamers. It doesn't matter whether you are Trevor, Michael, MP avatar, LSPD:FR's Officer Hightower, Lieutenant Columbo or GTA's rendition of Hulk - please support each other, and keep stiff upper lip. Got it @SLY95ZER! The special ability screen effects are controlled by the "timecycle_mods_4.xml" under C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\timecycle. I used this mod as a guidance, as the description clearly states it removes "Rampage Screen Effects".

Anyway, one may use aforementioned file and just put it into archive and the whole "MK Ultra" effect is gone. The only problem is the fact that the color hue will also be gone (which, alone, is fine) so the sounds are the only hint that you use the special ability bar...

However, there has to be a way to make a "surgical strike" on that demented screen FX alone - there are quite a few Trevor-related strings in the timecycle 4 file. Editing them out IAW what the "PostFXOff" posits, should eliminate the effect, while keeping the remaining features intact.

Perhaps, if I have nothing else to do, I will examine it further and cut things out one-by-one to make it suit my needs. But for now, we may as well use this resource here.

I just had a look into "procedural.meta" in the "materials" folder (is that the one?) and there is indeed a huge list of items there... Looks like one can indeed gain some FPS by deleting entire stuff...

There are some objects in there that I like however, so I plan to hand-pick some items out and leave the rest. Good thing they are clearly marked as "flowers_sparse" or "industrial litter dense" etc.

Hmmm... then it's all up to me and the jurisdiction I choose. Somewhat disappointing. LSPDFR deserves some kind of a scoring system. Non-race biased one too.

One thing I'd consider useful would be for a player to score, like, 20 points for arresting the suspect while only 3 when they could arrest them but chose to injure or kill them anyway. Even -30 if you kill someone for... skipping red light.

On the other hand, that would require adding a whole if-then scripting to each single callout, so I understand why it's not implemented yet... But maybe some day...

Yes, I think it's better to have two - three well maintained mods and a clear mind, rather than try to manage chaos.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it should not be a problem for anyone. My feeling was that it was just not the right way to express it. I could even dig this view. If it wasn't so authoritarian.

Oh irony... the funny thing is that each time someone overtly supports GTA-Modding-Noob's view, (regardless of how it is expressed) I myself find reasons to side with him!

Just a day, two ago, when you've been writing this post, I found this mod (https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/pedestrian-riot) where author explicitly vows not to abandon it... Which he did anyway. Just read the description and you'll understand.

So yes, I understand both sides of the problem. As for this mod, the general idea behind it is very, very good - easily configurable weapons, buddy system, extant peds turning evil. The problem is it is a mess top to bottom and was never updated despite what was said.

In general, I think it is not wise to make promises if you think you won't be able to keep them. Or at least, it would be nice to say "Sorry fellas, but I lost interest in GTA / found new job. Have no time for modding, hope you won't hold grudges". Something along these lines.

Unfortunately many people are very demanding and critical, not giving a single thought about others' problems or priorities.

I just can't help the feeling that GTA Modding Noob assumes everyone who ceased updating their mods is a useless, lazy bastard. Plus it doesn't matter to him, how big their contributions are / were up to a point. I don't think it's right...

As for the modders laziness... <sigh> Do give it a thought that life changes - some people who were keen on modding our favorite game quit the business. Like anyone else, they have their lives. And sometimes when, I don't know, you have a new job, newborn, credit to pay you will no longer spend time improving something that, in comparison, is pretty irrelevant.

From my perspective, most mods I use don't even need updates - I use scripts mostly. Script Hook is the only dependable that needs to be reworked from time to time. Of course, I understand if you use more complex mods that gradually deteriorate or stop working altogether - that may indeed be disappointing. But there are quite a few fun mods circulating that you can run and have fun with indefinitely.

Even with the Map Builder Mod it suppposedly installs a gameconfig for claimed "Stability", but I think that was what bricked me rather then the mod itself.

This is exactly the reason why I have never installed Map Builder. Though I wanted to, very much.
